Tried this over at NGC, now it's back again. By special permission of Ms. Mandoli, It's time for the return of one of the classics...
Now, this is going to be a hybrid of the Australian version and the American version. I hope you'll like it.
Main Game: Three contestants (two challengers and a returning champion, or in this case, three challengers) compete. Each player starts off with $20. I will ask questions, typically in either a set of five or a set of three or four. Each contestant will PM to me the answers for each question plus a buzz code from 1-100 for each question. (Passes are allowed.) Then, I will use Tandem Technologies (RANDOM.org) to generate numbers to determine who is closer for each question. In event of a tie in buzzcodes, the person who PMed me first gets control of the question. Time limits to submit questions are typically 24 hours, while I will wait for all three players, I will notify you or update the thread if someone is taking too long. (If you're going on vacation or something, PM me and I'll put the game on hold for you.)
Each player starts with $20, each question is worth $5 plus or minus. If a player ever reaches $0, I will enact Garagiola's Law and give all three players an additional $20.
Instant Bargains: After the first five questions in Rounds 1 and 2, I'll offer an Instant Bargain. The player in the lead can buy bargain merchandise at a low $ale of the Century price. Buzz in, and the price will be deducted from your score, but you get to keep the prize, win or lose. I will tempt you with extra cash or by lowering the price. If you want to make me an offer, make me an offer. But once I make my final offer, I'll say, "Going once.... going twice...." and then it will be up to you to make a decision. If you buy it, great. If not, I'll just say "No sale" and the game continues. You can also say "No sale" if you're not interested, but I will do my best. It's always your decision.
If there is a tie between players, I'll start lowering the price. The first player to buzz in gets it.
Fame Game: After the second set of questions in each round, we'll play the Fame Game. I'll show you a six-word grid (think Winners' Big Money Game) that offers clues to a person, place, or thing. It'll look like this.
After I identify what it is (person, place, thing, fictional character, etc.), you'll each PM me the number of clues and a buzzcode. Low clue bid gets it, and will have the number of clues they bid revealed (ties will be broken by buzzcodes, followed by when I received the PM). They can then guess. If you're right, you get control of the Fame Game board. If you're wrong, you're locked out for the rest of the puzzle but will not lose any money. I'll add one more clue, and the two people who didn't answer will use buzzcodes to determine the next person. If the second person answers incorrectly, the last person gets all the clues and three seconds (24 hours) to give me the answer. If nobody guesses correctly, nobody gets control.
Now, the person who answers correctly gets control of the Fame Game board. A Money Card will be revealed (first a $10, then a $15, then a $25), and the lights will flash. I'll ask you for a letter from A-I to determine where the lights stop. If you don't stop at a Money Card, then you'll either get cash or a fabulous prize which you'll keep regardless of how well you do. If you get a Money Card, that will be added to your score.
Ca$hCard: After the first set of questions in Round 3, the person in the lead will have the option to play Ca$hCard.
It'll cost you $15 from your score to play. If you decide to play, you pick a suit. Then, Stacey (my hostess) will activate the machine and you get what's under it.
Take $5: Take $5 from an opponent's score and add it to your own.
Prize: A prize worth at least $10,000 (or more, depending on how high the CashCard is at), yours to keep.
Ca$hCard: The Ca$hCard Jackpot, which starts at $25,000 and increases by $5,000 each episode until it's won. The money is yours to keep.
$15: A $15 "refund" of your admission fee.
If you decide not to play Ca$hCard, I may go into the audience and offer it to someone there, or at least ask you to pick a suit for fun.
If there is a tie for Ca$hCard, then we'll go into a "Silent Auction". Each player involved in the tie will submit to me (via PM) a bid of how much they'd like to pay to play. High bid wins. If there's a tie, I'll ask you to bid again. If there's still a tie, nobody gets it. If one person passes and the other bids, the bidder wins. If both pass, nobody gets it.
Century [Speed] Round: After the $25 Fame Game, we'll have the Century Round. 10 questions, $10 a piece plus or minus, so as much as $100 to earn. Same rules apply. Whoever is in the lead at the end of the Century Round wins the game and becomes the champion. The runners-up get whatever cash/prizes they've won. If they haven't won any, I'll give them the house minimum of $500 plus parting gifts, including a stick pin by Germani Jewellers and a copy of our $ale of the Century game for Nintendo Switch.
Ten-in-a-Row: The champion will play 10-in-a-Row to determine how much they'll add to their Personal Cash Jackpot (PCJ). We start each player's PCJ at $500,000. In Ten in a Row, contestants have to answer ten questions consecutively within the space of one minute (by PMing me the answers). The amount of cash won increases through a non-linear scale:
$100,000
$75,000
$50,000
$25,000
$15,000
$12,500
$10,000
$7,500
$5,000
$2,500
Any incorrect, passed answer or questions that are not answered in three seconds reset the value to $0, and a contestant who doesn't reach $100,000 wins whatever value they had when time expired (unless they miss the last question, in which case they get nothing).
Winners' Board: After playing 10-in-a-Row, the champion faces the Winners' Board, which has 15 spaces on it. Five pairs of prizes, either one "$50,000" or "CAR" card (depending on if the player has won with a score of $100 or more), two "WIN!" cards, and 2 cards that read "THE!" and "LOT!" Champions call numbers until they match a prize or a "WIN!" card and a prize. They win that prize and those two numbers are eliminated.
However, if the champion can find "WIN!", "THE!", and "LOT!" in that order, they win The Lot (which is all of the prizes on stage, the car, their PCJ, and a $1,000,000 cash bonus). Otherwise, the player comes back until they clear the board or lose. Now, if a champion clears the five other prizes but doesn't find "WIN!", "THE!", "LOT!" in that order, then the sixth game is for the car. Should a contestant find two "WIN!" cards consecutively, they win a $10,000 cash bonus and continue to pick. If, after the sixth game, the lot is not won but the board is otherwise cleared, the champion has a decision to make: keep all the prizes and retire, or play one more game for a chance at adding their PCJ and the $1,000,000 cash bonus. The catch in the latter instance was that the contestant, if they wanted the opportunity, had to put all six of the Winner's Board prizes up as collateral - essentially, it was a form of the player competing against the house. (Front game cash and prizes are not affected.) Should that contestant win, they automatically win the Lot and claim their PCJ and the $1,000,000 cash bonus. Should they lose, they lose the prizes they won off the Winners' Board.
Prizes on the Winners' Board change after every 5th show.
Tournament of Champions: After a sufficient number of episodes, the nine highest-earning players (regardless of whether or not they won any games or not) return for a single-elimination tournament. There will be three semifinal games, followed by a two-day match. Highest cumulative main game score wins the tournament, gets $1,000,000 in cash, a brand-new car, and a trip around the world. More details when the time comes.
So, I need three players. If you'd like to sign up, please let me know and PM me:
