Do we have any NFL fans on here? I've come up with what I believe should be a fun show. Here's how it works:
Two contestants try to solve sports riddles in order to earn selections off the playing board. These selections are used to setup a computer football simulation where the contestants will each choose an historic pro football team to represent them on the gridiron. The contestants earn whatever points their team scores on the field. After rounds using pro teams from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, the contestant with the higher cumulative score wins the game and plays in the Pro Bowl Bonus Round for a chance at $100,000.
In each round, selections off the playing board continue until the POSSESSION card is found. This determines which player's team has the first possession in the simulated game. At this point, if that contestant hasn't selected their team yet, they do so. Following this, if the other contestant also hasn't chosen a team, they do so. The simulation is then played out using those teams.
Contestants earn $100 for every point scored by their team in each simulated game and $1,000 for winning the game. Each simulation starts in the 4th quarter with 2:00 remaining and if tied at the end of the quarter, it goes into a 2:00 sudden death overtime. The game itself will simulate a coin flip to determine first possession in overtime. If still tied after two minutes of overtime, the game ends as a tie.
This format continues through 7 rounds with the cumulative score from all simulations as the total score for the show for each contestant. After 7 rounds, the contestant with the most points is the winner and plays the bonus round. If the total score is tied between the two contestants at this point, the one with the most on-field wins breaks the tie. If that is also tied, one final tie-breaking round is played to determine the winner.
In the Pro Bowl Bonus Round, the contestant plays first as the AFC Team and chooses the offense (QB, HB, FB, WRs and TE). This time around, you earn $1,000 for every point scored by your team and $10,000 for each game won. The contestant can play on as long as their team wins, but are risking losing what they've won in the Bonus Round if they play on and get shut out (i.e. their team scores no points on the field). If that happens, they lose everything they've won in the Bonus Round. If, however, they make it through 4 rounds (playing first as AFC, then as NFC, then again as AFC, and finally one last time as NFC) and their team wins all 4 times on the field, the contestant wins $100,000. They can stop after any round and take whatever bonus money they've won to that point.
In each round, selections off the playing board continue until the POSSESSION card is found. This determines which player's team has the first possession in the simulated game. At this point, if that contestant hasn't selected their team yet, they do so. Following this, if the other contestant also hasn't chosen a team, they do so. Here's an example of one of the simulated games using the teams from Super Bowl I:
I need two contestants, please. The person who signs up first starts us off in Round 1.
