As a side show for Card Sharks, and in honor of the show debuting tomorrow, I am going to attempt to host a game of Lingo, but under 2002-07 rules. For those who don't know, here's how it works.
In Lingo, there are 2 teams of 2, a Yellow Team and a Red Team. Each team will try to solve a 5-letter word (like Wordle) in order to draw Lingo balls from a machine to fill their card and get a Lingo. Here's a sample puzzle:
Black- not in word
Yellow- in word, but in wrong position
Green- in word and in the right spot
Solving one of these puzzles gives your team 25 points in round 1 and 2 random Lingo balls. If you can't solve the puzzle within all 5 guesses, the opponent gets a chance to steal the points and draw for themselves. If you draw a number, it is marked off on your Lingo card. If you find a Stopper, it is the end of your turn and the opponents get a chance. The Yellow Team gets odd numbers on their Lingo card, and the Red Team gets even numbers. Your Lingo card gets 10 random numbers marked off when you first get it. Getting a Lingo in round 1 gives your team 50 points, but control passes to the opponents. In round 2, all point values are doubled (meaning a word is 50 points, Lingo is 100 points), and 3 wild card balls are added (used to cover up any number). Each round ends when time "runs out". After round 2, the team with the most points wins the match, receives $5,000 per player, and moves on to Bonus Lingo. If there's a tie, a 7-letter tiebreaker word will be used. The letters appear back and forth, and the first team to buzz in and correctly spell the word wins (you can buzz in as many times as you wish).
In Bonus Lingo, the winning team would have 2 minutes to get as many words right as possible, but instead, I'll give them 10 words to solve (getting all 10 words right is an instant win, as it's impossible to lose.) Each correct word earns the team $500 per player and a Lingo ball. In the drawing part, 12 numbers will be marked on the Lingo card. If you don't get Lingo, you only earned the money won in the first part of the round. Making a Lingo wins your team $30,000 ($15,000 per player). Making a Lingo on the first pull will win $30,000 + a progressing Lingo jackpot that starts at $50,000 and progresses by $5,000 every time it's not won. Also, the winning team (if they would like) can return for a maximum of 2 episodes, playing as much as 3 games.
So, that is Lingo. I will need the following:
TEAM 1
TEAM 1
TEAM 2
TEAM 2
So, who will play?
