According to Randy West's Facebook page, per the link above, Bob Barker, who for 35 years "Came On Down!" as host of "The Price is Right" before his 2007 Retirement, died this morning at age 99, 100 days shy of his 100th Birthday.
Born on December 12, 1923 in Darien, Washington, Robert William "Bob" Barker grew up in Mission, South Dakota on an Indian Reservation after his dad was killed in an accident when young Bob was 6 years old.
At age 15, Bob met his future wife, Dorothy Jo Gideon (who he'd marry in 1945, after voluntarily enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II in 1943); after high school, Bob enrolled at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, eventually voluntarily enlisting as duly noted in the U.S. Navy during World War II, but unlike other Men his age, Bob luckily never fought outside the USA, or was on active duty during that time.
In 1956, Bob began his Game Show career in earnest taking over for Ralph Edwards on the TV version of Ralph's GS creation "Truth or Consequences," a role he'd continue for 18 years until 1974; in 1972, at age 48, Bob began the first of his 35 years on CBS hosting "The Price is Right" until his 2007 Retirement from TV, after which Drew Carey became host of the show, with George Gray serving as Drew's current announcer since 2010.
In retirement, Bob spent several years in poor health despite being a longtime Animal Rights Activist on top of being a Vegetarian who never ate meat a day in his 99-year existence.
Besides his "Price is Right" days, Bob Barker was also well known for various Harassment lawsuits filed by various "Price is Right" models (aka "Barker's Beauties") such as Holly Halstrom & Dian Parkinson to name two.
RIP Bob Barker, and "Come on Down!" to a Happy Eternity in the Afterlife, Have your Pets Spayed & Neutered in the Rainbow Bridge and Remember, if you want somebody to be Your Friend, you've got to be a friend to them.

I was not surprised at all that Bob would die before turning 100. But regardless, living to age 99 is a pretty incredible life (though he didn't live as long as Betty White did - she died just days before her milestone), and despite his troubles (especially the lawsuits he was faced with) he was, in my opinion, the best game show host of all time. I really found his climactic reveals of results on TPIR quite entertaining, something that Drew doesn't even do.
I guess TPIR will have to tape a special show as a tribute to Bob in the coming days, and I can see it airing during the season premiere week.
A very sad and heartbreaking loss, now that the oldest game show legend is gone. He's now heard the ultimate losing horns.

wonder if gsn will do something, probably just a week of MG. I am thinking it will be restricted to Match Game, possibly limited to what they currently have the rights to, or have aired in recent leases. Or maybe a marathon on a Saturday or Sunday, including the late 1978 episode which had "Come on ___!" in the Super Match, though I am not sure if they presently have the rights to air that episode.
When GSN did a tribute to Bob Barker in 2007 to commemorate his retirement, they aired a marathon of his appearances, including Match Game and at least one or two episodes of Tattletales.

Basically all they can do is run Match Game and Tattletales. All of Bob's TPIRs are tied up with Pluto now.

To stevearino and zouisjr... Both threads of yours have been merged. I know Barker's dead, but we don't need three threads on it. The first to make the thread was vahan. Any extra threads get merged into his. And I'm moving this to News.

You know, now that Bob is deceased, I wonder what will become of the 1970s through early-September 1982 episodes of TPIR that had fur coats and prizes made of animal products offered? Could the ban on furs soon be lifted? Could this pave the way for finally releasing the earliest seasons of TPIR to Pluto TV someday?
As for marathons, one is confirmed. Buzzr will be airing a tribute marathon consisting of Match Game and Tattletales appearances. Nothing in terms of I've Got a Secret nor Combs' Feud, though it may be in development - but we don't know.

His remaining relatives are a half brother and two half nephews and one half niece, according to one online obituary. They would be his next of kin.

Damn.
I knew this day would come but I still wasn't prepared for it. I thought he would cruise to 100 the way it had felt, but it's a reminder that health and life can be real fickle in one's late 90s, just as seen with Betty White too.
RIP Bob. Thank you for helping me through sick days and summer mornings. Thank you for being the one who led me to discover game shows as a youngin. I know Dorothy Jo will be glad to see you.

I watched Bob Barker's episodes of TPIR as far back as around 1977 when NTV (the local CTV affiliate in Newfoundland, then known as NBC) aired it almost every evening. I didn't have to restrict my watching to sick days and summer afternoons, as it was on after supper, after the local newscast. Looking back at the 1970s, the show was not overly great to me due to the narrower variety of pricing games. The show got better by 1983, and I was watching the show like a die-hard fan nearly every season (though some years, I lost interest for some sporadic periods of time due to being into Wheel of Fortune). I didn't watch the show much in the 1990s until 1994, and continued every year until I started my current job in 2010. I had no trouble recording the show for a few more years after that, until GSN acquired some classics I greatly enjoy and there was no way I could record the classics on GSN and TPIR on CBS in the same day while I was at work. Unfortunately, I can only watch the show when I am off from work, whether it be a holiday or an annual leave day, and digital recordings on DVD recorders are now blocked, possibly due to CRTC legislation.
NTV aired TPIR every year from the 1970s until 1996. After NTV dropped the show, CBS was my only opportunity to see TPIR.

For the past decade I was able to watch hundreds of the pre-2000 episodes online thanks to contributors to sites like Youtube and now Internet Archive too from many contributors but especially from the late David Downs (DownsA530, then the Fun and Games Channel who had about 100+ episodes of the show on his channel). For the past few months I had been watching what is available of season 26, one of the best in the show’s history imo and the last one I had seen before news of the passing was the May 26, 1998 edition
RIP to the WGMC

As for my personal favourite Bob hosted episode of The Price is Right, it would have to be the Oct 15, 1991 episode (8142D)
