I never got to see "The Trash is Right" nor "The Triangle is Right" because they debuted well after my mother banned me from watching Sesame Street in 1984 - which I do respect to this day and beyond. What happened in 1984?

I never got to see "The Trash is Right" nor "The Triangle is Right" because they debuted well after my mother banned me from watching Sesame Street in 1984 - which I do respect to this day and beyond. What happened in 1984? My mother banned me from watching the show in 1984 as a result of many years of a giggling problem, which angered my mother. The giggling itself wasn't the issue, but the content I was giggling at was not intended to be funny - in the writer's perspective. Plus, I used to mimic certain characters, especially Bert's sound of frustration. In the final months of my watching the show, I only watched the show just to laugh at segments involving Bert and Ernie, due to Bert's temper which I laughed at and mom told me it was not supposed to be funny.
Not to mention that I was a year away from becoming a teenager at the time. I guess you could say the ban was a sure sign that my childhood was starting to wind down, and my parents wanted me to join the rest of my class and move on to other interests.
However, I don't think the giggling problem was due to the show. It was more likely caused by consuming excess sugar - and I did consume excess sugar for much of that year (particularly summer vacation). The giggling problem was more because I was high on sugar. However, regarding the ban, it is what it is and I respect it. And I will respect my parents' wishes even after they pass away.

You know, I wonder if, for Bob to make occasional blunders in gameplay that resulted in the show awarding the prize to the contestant during his latter years as host, do you suppose he had the early stages of Alzheimer's during his latter years as host? Some source says he had Alzheimer's for years.

I wouldn't think so his last year was 17-18 years ago.

It's plausible that all the "senior moments" from late in Bob's run were connected to an onset of age related memory loss (3902K is a good example)
