I’m out walking, but this news just came up on Wink Martindale’s Facebook. One of the classic mainline HS hosts (not counting the Nashville version) has now passed away.

I suspect Buzzr could show a Match Game syndie and Password Plus marathon with Peter in honor.

That's so so sad.
I hope the upcoming HS with Drew Barrymore as center square acknowledges PM. May he rest in peace alongside PL, WC, GG, CW, RM and all the other semiregular zanies that have passed on.

I suspect Buzzr could show a Match Game syndie and Password Plus marathon with Peter in honor. and nothing from gsn I don't think GSN will mention his passing. I don't think they acknowledged Regis or TOm Kennedy's passing. They did a Saturday morning J! marathon when Alex Trebek died, and a $25K Pyramid marathon when Betty WHite died, and showed a MG7x block the week after Barker died.

For those who remember the old Classic Squares site, you might remember that there was a FAQ section and one of the questions was on who was still around today. Well, I figured I would update the info in the question in light of Peter's passing. Q. Is every regular/semi-regular/most frequent guest on the show dead now? Whatever happened to Wayland Flowers, is he still around? Who else is still around? A. Alive: Gary Burghoff, John Byner, Charo, John Davidson, Sandy Duncan, Robert Fuller, Susan Seaforth Hayes, Earl Holliman, Rich Little, Kent McCord, Elke Sommer, Lily Tomlin, Leslie Uggams, Karen Valentine, Jimmie Walker, Demond Wilson, and Jo Anne Worley.
Deceased: Peter Marshall (2024), Kenny Williams (1984), Paul Lynde (1982), Wally Cox (1973), Charley Weaver (1974), Rose Marie (2017), Marty Allen (2018), Morey Amsterdam (1996), Jim Backus (1989), David Brenner (2014), Charlie Callas (2011), Totie Fields (1978), Wayland Flowers (1988; he died from AIDS, and is the most asked about celebrity in this category), George Gobel (1991), Pearl Bailey (1990), Joey Bishop (2007), Bill Bixby (1993), Abby Dalton (2020), Phyllis Diller (2012), Nanette Fabray (2018), Bill Hayes (2024), Florence Henderson (2016), Arte Johnson (2019), Harvey Korman (2008), Michael Landon (1991), Gypsy Rose Lee (1970), Roddy McDowall (1998), Jan Murray (2006), Anthony Newley (1999), Suzanne Pleshette (2008), Tom Poston (2007), Vincent Price (1993), Tony Randall (2004), Joan Rivers (2014), McLean Stevenson (1996), Marcia Wallace (2013), Dennis Weaver (2006), and full time Storybook Squares regular Paul Winchell (2005).
It's really sad to think that only a handful of the people listed here are still around.

I will allow the news without a link.
This death breaks my heart. There's not a lot of the golden age hosts left, if any. RIP.

I will allow the news without a link. This death breaks my heart. There's not a lot of the golden age hosts left, if any. RIP. Johnny Gilbert is the oldest still living personality best known for game shows, going back to the late 50s on Music Bingo which he hosted. Eubanks and Martindale who started hosting in the 60s are the next two oldest. Jim MacKrell, Jim Peck, and Chuck Woolery, and occasional host/longtime announcer Bob Hilton are a few years younger than Eubanks. Of those who started pre-1980, that's who is left. With producers, Ron Greenberg is in his 90s and still alive. From the 70s era, Fishman-Freer of Diamond Head Game fame, Sandy Frank of Face the Music/Name That Tune(syndicated the 70s Kennedy version, produced the 80s version)fame are still alive. Jay Redack, Gary Johnson, and Harry Friedman of the 70s Squares production team are still alive.

On a related note, Peter guest appeared on an episode of "The Parent Hood" with a fictional game show called "Check Your Mate" where he played Chuck Roxter.

On a related note, Peter guest appeared on an episode of "The Parent Hood" with a fictional game show called "Check Your Mate" where he played Chuck Roxter. And East Hollywood Squares on In Living Color. And he also appeared on an early episode of MadTV that had a game show sketch where the first to a Million points wins it all, but each correct answer was only worth a point, when will the sketch ever end? Nobody knew. Well there goes another ILC member who we lost who appeared in Season 5. None of the core members of the first 4 seasons(the exception being Marc Wilmore) have passed on yet.
