My first time on US soil was 14 October 1988. My family was stuck in Honolulu because the airline had sent our connecting flight off without us, and the airline plonked us in a hotel room. It was here that the TV was turned on and, true to the era, there was a string of game shows. After seeing an episode of Scrabble, which made us all scratch our heads, was an episode of Wheel of Fortune, which was much more palatable because we were familiar with the Australian version back home. Last week, I curiously Googled "Wheel of Fortune 14 October 1988", and found the episode on DailyMotion. At least, I think it's the episode in question. Here's where I'm slightly confused: - The reason why I am sure that this is the episode that aired is that I clearly remember Pat's "tell us about life in Denver" question, because this gained the response in our hotel room, "I thought this was Wheel of Fortune, not This is Your Life."
- This is clearly a syndicated episode, since the contestants are awarded cash rather than going shopping
- It would have been morning local time when we arrived
- Because it followed Scrabble, it would have aired on NBC, during the daytime
So, the matter I really want to clarify: Would the syndicated version have aired on NBC in the morning? I would have thought that daytimes on NBC would have seen the network version of the show.
Or is it possible that two different versions airing on the same date both started with Pat asking a contestant to "Tell us about life in ______________"?

So, something doesn't add up, unless KHON (Honolulu's then-NBC affiliate) was doing wacky things with their schedule.
Scrabble aired at 12:30 all throughout 1988. In that timeslot, it would have been the last network game show of the day, being then followed by Days of Our Lives. It doesn't matter which version of Wheel might have aired, that scheduling precludes either one from following Scrabble without the station making the change.
