Sports Jeopardy! will be a new genre-themed spinoff for the show; just like how Rock & Roll Jeopardy! was handled. Coming this fall. Full story here.

Totally fine with this. Sports-trivia game shows can be outstanding if handled properly (2 Minute Drill and Sports on Tap come readily to mind), and the Jeopardy! format is bulletproof enough to adapt smoothly to this kind of specialization.

Kind of related to the topic (it was brought up already) - I wish Rock & Roll Jeopardy! came back.
The sports-themed edition is a good idea. Can you watch Crackle on a regular computer? Does it cost anything to watch the site? I'm going to have to check it out when this version airs.

Crackle is a "free" channel on Roku, but is fairly swimming with commercials. And commercials on Roku are even more irritating than on regular TV, because they often repeat themselves and create havoc with the Roku itself. I've not tried it on a PC or tablet, but it's probably similar. AFAIK there's no subscription tier to remove the ads.
And while Jeopardy! may adapt well to topic specialization, other formats that are every bit as classic... don't. Case in point, this unsold late-'90s pilot:

Crackle is also where the classic episodes of the contestants for the Jeopardy! decades tournament are. I also wish Rock & Roll Jeopardy would come back, if not new episodes, at least some reruns somewhere. As for that Pyramid Rocks pilot, I wonder what it would have been like if the show actually made it to series. The winner's circle on there looks like someone got 2 chairs, put them together and started playing it in their living room. At any rate, it looks to be less of a disaster than the general pilots described that were made in 1996 and 1997.

Dan Patrick is the guy with the radio show The Dan Patrick Show right? Because he really does have sports knowledge and Jeopardy Sports Edition will be great for Dan Patrick and I'm finally glad we will be able to see an actual sports version of Jeopardy for TV because when I was a kid the only sports editions I've seen of Jeopardy were the video games that were made in the 90's. Knowing very much about sports from my uncles who are diehard sports fans I'm sure that this Jeopardy Sports Edition will be every sports fan's dream and maybe even in future editions of Jeopardy Sports Edition there will be episodes where famous and former sports stars such as Dan Marino Peyton Manning Richard Seymour Larry Bird Kareem-Abdul Jabbar Grant Hill Apolo Ohno Michelle Kwan compete for charity and bring ESPN big ratings to the channel. But like I said before Jeopardy Sports Edition will sure be a hit indeed with sports fans, Kelsey

Yep, I love The Dan Patrick Show. But he also does Football Night in America during football season, basically he seems to work for NBC. He's one of the few guys I like in the sports media. His radio show (which is also on TV NBCSN, Audience (DirecTV), ROOT SPORTS regional networks (DirecTV or your local area), Comcast Sports Net - The Best Of)
That's why I'm happy Dan got the job, hes the best one for it.
