I'm not sure about the need to merge, but I'm new here. Either way, while it's unusual to have a former contestant become the host of a game show, Ken is capable and does a good job. Somebody will claim he's terrible and an abomination, but ratings are decent without Trebek, be it Ken or Mayim that hosts.
When Ken hosts, it feels right. When Mayim hosts, it feels like a gimmick. I am constantly reminded that I'm listening to an actress host a game show, not an emcee hosting a game show, when Mayim is running the game. Keep her for prime time specials if ABC wants to keep running them, and wants a celebrity host. Fine with me. But I vote for Ken to lead the daytimer. And while his departure from the Chase seems to indicate he'll be plenty busy with something else this fall, I'm prepared for the news that he's not the new host for whatever reason. I don't think anyone was expecting Mike Richards to be the frontrunner last summer, and surprise, all of a sudden he was. Don't underestimate Sony's ability to botch this again.
If Mayim gets the job, and the show does lose regular viewers, it won't get canceled. Not that easily. If it really tanks because of her, Sony won't give it up that easily. They'll absolutely dump her and try again with another host before they'll just throw in the towel. People may tune out because of the host, but they don't tune in for the host, generally. The host drives late night talk show viewership, but the game drives game show viewership.
The exception is a worn out, tired game like Family Feud. I'm convinced that's still on the air because the game is as much about the host as it is the game. It wouldn't be on the air today if they had stuck with John O'Hurley.

We are going to move this thread, because it's more suited for the actual AP show thread.

I made the mistake of clicking on this link, and I was taken to a click-baity-type story that <surprise!> told me that some fans don't like MB as host of Jeopardy and want her to be fired. Certainly not newsworthy, but those who don't like MB as host would probably enjoy reading it.

I like KJ and MB equally well. In season 37, KJ had six weeks of hosting, the longest of any post-Trebek fill-in, and used his time well to improve during that stretch. He has been even better in S38 then he was in S37, and has proven to be solid host.
In contrast, MB only had two weeks in S37, but really stood out amongst all of the fill-ins. She is very personable, and brought a spark of joy to the job that most of the fill-ins lacked.
IMHO, the only other noteworthy fill-in was Joe Buck, was fortunate enough to have five Matt Amodio games, which played to his sportscasting strength of calling important contests (Super Bowls, World Series, etc.) But even he needed a show or two to find his groove.
Ultimately, the show is strong enough to flourish with any competent, non-controversial host, and the two current hosts are strong enough to effortlessly fill that role.

"the-sun.com" tells me, without even clicking on it, that it's probably from the U.S. version of the British tabloid The Sun. Ergo: Not exactly reputable.

today's episode has somebody giving a personal message on the question during final jeopardy, and was still counted as correct. So apparently, that rule has been changed back.

Now that most people have seen today’s episode, the “giant killer” who dethroned Mattea the 5th longest champion was Danielle Maurer. In first to fourth place in that category are Nancy Zerg, Rhone Talsma, Jonathan Fisher who went on to win 12 games in a row and Emma Boettcher. Except for Emma with three wins in a row, Nancy and Rhone won only one game each

Hopefully it can be an hour long show. The Celeb episodes tend to run out of time with many clues left on the board, IIRC. In other news, We have the looming of another Super Champ.
