I'm just not feeling this concept. I don't think we know a lot about this show. "Stand in line. Wait your turn. Answer questions. Win money." Has there been any mention about where the jackpot starts out at?

I'm just not feeling this concept. I don't think we know a lot about this show. "Stand in line. Wait your turn. Answer questions. Win money." Has there been any mention about where the jackpot starts out at? I guess it's an interesting concept. It's something new. I don't know if I completely understand this 100%. You're probably right that we don't know a lot about the show. The show premieres in a couple of weeks though, I like trivia game shows. Shows that test your mind and you can play along with. I just hope it's good. Lately, GSN hasn't disappointed too much, in my opinion. Just as long as its not slow paced for the "average" viewer. That it doesn't "drag". I'm only pivky sometimes on hosts, setting, etc. GSN has gotten decent hosts, and sets, whatever the setting will be for this. (Wink) And yeah, hell I'm not sure what the plans are for this show. Tradition or "Trial Run" so to speak, meaning its only on for Dec. 23 and GSN is unsure about it. That may be why it's two episodes back to back, but I'm not fully sure on that. My theory on that is if people liked it the first hour, then they'll stay tuned for hour 2. But, I don't know if these are the only episodes GSN has taped either. The future is the future... I wonder if they'll show shots of people waiting in this line - just in case they don't get to play.

I just thought of something. Two-hour "event". Maybe they're only doing this one episode?

Got me. But I do know there are no more eps scheduled through January 25. At least that's what the pdfs say right now.

I saw The Line for a few minutes and I thought it would be cool but when I saw that the questions were gonna be true/false questions I disliked it and decided to watch a Tyler Perry movie instead. I think if it had Who Wants To Be A Millionaire style questions The Line would be even more fun to watch. Why I think GSN decided to make The Line a two-episode show was to give the show a test run and see how successful The Line was gonna be. But the outdoor setting of The Line is really neat and where I think GSN got the idea to film The Line outdoors was from the show The All-New Family Challenge that was hosted by Michael Burger. As for the star of The Line Jeff Davis I think he will have a successful career in game show hosting with The Line and we will see many new game shows hosted by Jeff Davis in the near future. Overall GSN tried their best but The Line could've been much better, Overall Grade: C, Kelsey

Posted a pretty negative review on Game Show Follies...
Queuing theory
Watched about thirty minutes of GSN's mega-spectacular, oh-my-flipping-God "two hour event" last night.
That would be The Line, a simple quizzer plus stunt show that somehow got blown up into something a bazillion times bigger than it should have been. Basically, people wait in line (in Nashville) for a chance to answer eight true-false questions. While in line they play silly stunt games.
And that's it. Somewhere, there might be a modest little game show striving to break free from this bare bones format. Instead, GSN belabored the thing for 120 minutes, including many, many commercials. Is there anybody willing to wait in line (or the TV room at home) for a simple show which lasts so long? As I said, I checked out after a half-hour or so.
Jeff Davis, known for clever improv on Whose Line, hosted rather colorlessly. Candace Bailey, known for something on Attack of the Show, led cheers and didn't do much else. The contestants seemed to have a good time, despite waiting for hours in Nashville's wilting summer heat.
By the way, I hope GSN kept those folks supplied with cold water.

In case you missed it, The Line averaged 370,000 viewers over two hours. 415K at 9pm on 12/23 then falling to 325K at 10pm.
Good, but not great numbers.

Terrible by GSN's historical standards for GSN Originals. My blog review pretty much summed it up, but this was just me talking, mostly. Once upon a time, those would be fair numbers for GSN. Now, are these numbers just for people who tuned into the show and stayed with the show?

I think you mean "terrible by GSN's recent standards for GSN Originals". Maybe? Anyway, a 370K average over two hours is not "terrible", it's more like average but definitely a little low for a new original. We'll see later how Idiotest and Baggage On The Road compare.
