Weather, most definitely. My CBS affiliate has said on numerous occasions that they have to stay on when there's a tornado warning in the state. (Haven't heard any of the other networks say that. Of course, I like my CBS news crew.) Agreed with your last point. I don't get why people can't just watch the show online if they miss it. I know this is an old post, but I thought it was worth mentioning: times have changed when it comes to tornado coverage in this area. Back in the day affiliates here would just briefly announce a tornado warning for a couple minutes and go back to regular programming. Nowadays they've since gone on the air and stay on wall-to-wall until the warnings are over. Which is logical.

CT is tiny, so they're all statewide. Regardless of where the severe weather is (if its in my area or not), everyone is required to stay on.
