Abbe Schorow is the contestant's name on the 10:30AM EST who is playing against John Gose. She's introduced as an aerobics instructor. THere's an ABbe Schorow who worked on MGHS Hour and Trivia Trap, wonder if it's the same person. MGHS debuted six weeks after this episode aired.

For what it's worth, Jerry Bishop is at the mic for this week. Is this the only week he announced?

For what it's worth, Jerry Bishop is at the mic for this week. Is this the only week he announced? Nope, he announced Anita Gillette & LeVar Burton (August 22-26, 1983). So happy we're starting year two of $25K Pyramid. Now that's more like it (the white WC trilon boxes I mean).

Wow, so that must've aired just recently. Wow, I need to watch this show more in the mornings.

And for anyone keeping score at home, the first flashback clips used were from Rita Moreno & Robert Foxworth (Week #011/November 29-December 3, 1982) and Linda Kelsey & Rick Hurst (Week #009/November 15-19, 1982). The next episode featured clips from Patty Duke-Astin & Jay Johnson (Week #029/April 4-8, 1983) and Vicki Lawrence & Fred Grandy (Week #015/December 27-31, 1982). Some of the weeks from Fall 1983 eventually became part of the flashback montages.

And eventually, they gonna show at least one of the $10,000 wins from the debut week with Constance McCashin & Robert Mandan during this week of episodes as well as Larae Dillman's $10,000 win from August 24, 1983 will also make the cut. Also beginning this week, should the $25,000 win come up, the WC boxes begin to shake around(though this would not last through all of 1984 and it didn't happen when they still had blue WC boxes even during the time the PYL promos were airing).

And what GSN has planned for August 7-11 confirms that the week of October 10-14, 1983 did, in fact, have Shelley Smith & Bill Cullen play the game.
I bring this up for a reason: On more than one occasion, the wrong people were listed in TV Guide for celebrity game shows. For example, for Password Plus, TV Guide listed Elaine Joyce & Tom Wopat as the celebrities for January 7-8/11-13, 1982. As it turned out, the celebrities for that week were really Elaine Joyce & Robert Donner.

So, now that it is confirmed that we're going beyond the realms of the first lease, I think it's safe to declare that we'll be entering the last remaining untapped year from the series, 1984. Expect to see it by September.

Folks, be sure to DVR this week because whenever there's a $25,000 win, the following will be another first: the WC boxes beginning to get shaky as seen in the September 1983 show with Markie Post & Richard Kline. Now for sometime, the announcer is heard doing the spiel when the flashback intro(like the wild $25,000 win from November 10, 1982 for instance) screen freezes but even weirder, the theme music is heard when the logo shows up. We'll find out next week if that'll be the case there.

Expect to see it by September. If they picked up 200 episodes starting with late June 1983, it'll go up to early April 1984 assuming no skipped over episodes. The Shelley Smith and Bill Cullen week is scheduled to air between AUg 9-11(10/10-10/14/83) and as has been said before, not been seen since its original broadcast as USA didn't air it. They also didn't air THankgiving week 1983 with Didi Conn and RIchard Gilliland, and the 1/3-1/6/84 week with Rita Moreno and Richard Dean Anderson, so those two weeks also haven't been seen since CBS aired them.

The next two episodes that are to air tomorrow are also on the trading circuit from the original broadcasts; ditto the 9/22 and 9/23 episodes of Press Your Luck, and they were all recorded off of WCBS in New York City.

Knowing GSN's practice over the years, I think there is a pretty good chance of Thanksgiving Week 1983 being aired in this current lease, and if so, it will be the first time these episodes were rebroadcast since the original CBS airings in November 1983. I did learn that USA tended to skip over weeks that have less than five episodes. But contrary to that claim, I believe USA did in fact air the short Thanksgiving Week 1983 of Press Your Luck, as I remember seeing a clip of the Thanksgiving Whammy (the extended version with "the voice") on Brad Francini's website after Jay hit a Whammy before the end of Round 1, and did in fact have the USA logo towards the bottom of the screen, unless I missed something.

In contrast to Sale of the Century, in which John Gose's penultimate episode before his 8th and last one is lost to the ravages of time, unless someone comes forward with a copy from 1985 in Syndication or from 1993 on USA Network, all five episodes of his appearances on $25K Pyramid have been aired by GSN. GSN also skipped John's first appearance on SOTC, but Buzzr aired it.
Tomorrow, we begin the second Markie Post & Richard Kline week (September 26-30, 1983), and we learn which episode is being skipped, since it looks like only four of them will be aired.
Lastly, we can expect to see the Martha Smith & Ken Kercheval week (October 17-21, 1983), beginning on 8/14. This was the week seen in those 2002 GSN promos that I was telling you guys about on more than one occasion.

USA's policy of not showing partial weeks of "Pyramid" wasn't in effect until 1991 (That's when they skipped the Alison LaPlaca/Tom Villard and Anne-Marie Johnson/Robert Hegyes weeks), so they were most likely showing partial weeks of "PYL" into 1990 at least.

USA aired 1983 episodes of PYL in 1992, as I do remember 11/21 and 11/22 on YouTube, and the transparent USA watermark (seen on their programs from 1991 to 1996) was displayed. Pre-1991 USA Network didn't have a watermark.
I guess we'll never know why USA issued such policy with one show, but not the other.
