I'm sure that every state (or almost every state) has something like this. High school students answering general knowledge questions that range from stuff they might have learned in school to sports and entertainment.
Does your state, or one nearby, have one?
I know Massachusetts has had As Schools Match Wits on WGBY (public television station in the Springfield area). Schools around Springfield compete - some in Connecticut participate as well. I haven't been paying attention to things as of late, so I have zero idea if it's going to be back this school year.

Heh. I'm so oldschool, I remember when As Schools Match Wits aired on commercial TV (Saturday nights, 7:30, WWLP). I still remember that theme... ^^;;; Connecticut itself, at least the New Haven region, used to have one called High School Bowl that aired on WTNH 8 lo these many years ago. Is there anything like that now? Columbus has In the Know, which airs on the PBS station here (WOSU). WBNS also has, or used to have (I don't know if it's still around), a nearly identical series, Westfield Insurance Brain Game. I've never figured out what separates one from the other; they're even taped on the same set (at WOSU's studios in the COSI museum), albeit with different production teams. Frankly, of all these series, ASMW, with its vaguely Jeopardy!-esque format, is the gold standard for me. High School Bowl, In the Know, and Brain Game were/are all by-the-numbers College Bowl clones, with nothing really to distinguish them.

As far as where I've lived:
The Atlanta, Georgia area has a show called High-Q on WSB-TV channel 2. Sundays at 12:30.
In Indianapolis, Indiana... WTHR channel 13 has a show called Brain Game.

A few years ago here in Ohio, we had a high school quiz show called "High Q" that aired early Sunday morning. I really enjoyed it. It was a nice little half-hour quiz show that tested the knowledge of these high school students. Two schools of four students would compete. I forget what the prize was, but if I remember correctly, the winning school would go to the final round where one student had to answer some questions for a grand prize.
For what it was worth, it wasn't bad. I don't know if it's still on though.

When I lived in New York, we had a local high school quizzer titled The Long Island Challenge, later titled The Challenge. It aired on an all-news local station, was the only non-news content that aired on said station no less!! I heard that it was recently moved to another local station and possibly cancelled last year. Dunno what the status is with it.

This part of the forum is for shows that have aired on GSN. Since I think this isn't one of them, I'll move/merge this when I get home. Please keep threads in their appropriate section.

New Jersey Network, NJ's version of PBS, had a high school quiz show called New Jersey Bowl in the 80s.

Not high school, but I was actually on a local quiz show in Baltimore called "Heads Up" when I was in the 4th grade. My episode aired in March 1985.

I don't think we have one of these in the UK. (I just posted a thread about University Challenge, but we don't have a junior version for high schools: I think they tried one at one point, but it didn't work out ) On the other hand, the original British version of Blockbusters had high school students as the contestants. It worked very well too: it gave the show a certain charm which the later incarnations of the show (featuring adults as contestants) didn't have .

Up until about a year or so ago, Game Show forum co-founder Matt Ottinger hosted Quizbusters for almost 30 years on WKAR in Lansing, Michigan.

They have been trying very hard to bring back High Five Challenge, which is in Portland and also seen in Seattle, but nothing has ever come of it.

In Canada, each province, including Newfoundland and Labrador, had their own high school quiz show called "Reach for the Top". It's really cool that Newfoundland even had its own locally-produced game show - if only one series.
I was too young to understand the gameplay, as I was likely a preschooler or in first grade when I discovered it. I didn't start understanding gameplay on game shows until around April 1983 or so.
