carpetcrawler , was that Paul Winchell episode of IGAS '72 the only one from that era played this Christmas? I would be the last person to know because as of right now I don't have cable. Heck, until you said so just now, I had no idea they played that one and now I'm super stoked!!

I missed the Worley one, but caught the Winchell one. I also saw the Burt Reynolds episode of WML from March 1971 that was taped on Wally Burner's birthday. Bennett Cerf looked like he wasn't in the best of health; he died five months later.

The Worley one is really cool if you like basketball or are an NBA historian at all. The Van Arsdale twins (Dick and Tom) show up at one point in one of the games.

Deal Or No Deal at 10 am has been replaced with Common Knowledge and Catch 21. CK is on right now.

Catch 21 three times a day? Is the show still doing that well for them? I'd think they wouldn't be worse off putting something like Lingo (Woolery) or Whammy! at 10:30 AM.

Maybe they should put, oh I don't know, Supermarket Sweep in that time slot? Just throwing ideas out there.

Deal Or No Deal at 10 am has been replaced with Common Knowledge and Catch 21. CK is on right now. Next thing, Deal or No Deal may return, replacing one of the three hours of Match Game in due time.
Makes me wonder if GSN lost the rights to Deal or No Deal recently? That, or viewers got tired of it after nearly a decade on GSN.

Deal or no Deal which bowed in December 2005 is the second oldest show on GSN at this point behind MG7x. GSN Chain Reaction bowed in AUgust 2006.

Of course, if you want to go back even further, the oldest game show episode that is rerunnable is the debut episode of What's My Line? from February 2, 1950, Sony's oldest game show episode that can be rerun is The Face Is Familiar, but Sony's earliest daytime game show episode in circulation is the first color episode of the daytime Dating Game from April 3, 1967. So if GameTV can rerun the $100,000 Pyramid, how about GameTV rerunning the $25,000 Pyramid coming from GSN's current lease(October 8, 1985-July 1986 I think, which BTW includes the November 18-19, 1985 episodes but the March 7, 1986 episode will sadly be skipped).

Broadcasts of The $100,000 Pyramid on GameTV in Canada do contain a plug for the home game version aired intact, even though the game is no longer being sold (maybe available on eBay, but second hand is a different story). GSN's copies have such plug edited out.
It's possible that GameTV acquires copies from the studio masters held by Sony, and the same for Match Game '75, Super Password, Press Your Luck, and until October, The All-New Let's Make a Deal; but I believe GSN acquires copies of a syndicated game show through a television affiliate in California, as they may likely do with regards to network broadcasts of classics, which I believe may have been acquired through the original network's (in the case of The $25,000 Pyramid, CBS's) archives.
I can easily tell that GSN likely acquires classics through the original broadcast network's archives, as the very end of the credits of Match Game do not show the FremantleMedia logo on the end, while Buzzr's and GameTV's broadcasts have. Same applies for the January 17, 1984 episode of Press Your Luck - Buzzr's and GameTV's broadcasts of that episode has a very noticeable tape glitch during the flashback intro, whereas GSN's copy had no such glitch - implying that GSN acquired their copy through CBS's archives.
If GameTV was to acquire The $25,000 Pyramid, it will likely be through studio masters in Sony's archives. I wouldn't be surprised if Sale of the Century ends up coming to GameTV's retro block someday, but if it does, it will probably be syndicated episodes.

For some of that stuff like, Match Game, GSN's probably working with old tapes of shows they already have in their library which they got from Fremantle before Fremantle even had that name and it was still known as either Pearson or All-American Television. When GSN got Sale of the Century, it had the Fremantle logo at the end.

Gametv would have had to go through Paramount to get Wipeout. Bumper Stumpers is in Sony's holdings thanks to them acquiring the back episodes of the Barry and Enright shows sometime in the early 90s.
