Eight hours just to open 20+ cases? What?

Double-checked my sources, and turns out I had a couple of things wrong: the taping I was thinking of was the 2006 season premiere, which had two games (although the episode that aired had three, apparently). The taping was supposed to last three hours but ended up going for eight, apparently due to technical issues. Mandoli: They only gave out water and bags of candy, and even then the staff seems to have been pretty rude about requests for water and bathroom usage. Didn't help that the studio apparently didn't have air conditioning. (Source: Mike Klauss)

I'd lose my mind if I went to one of those tapings...

Just curious, how long did the taping of 1 episode of Match Game or shows like that take?

Well, we may be a few weeks away from finding out the future of The $25,000 Pyramid on GSN. Keep an eye out for the May 23-29 PDF in the weeks to come. It would be nice to finally see the 1984 episodes on GSN someday, as no episodes from that year have ever aired on GSN. In order for GSN to air the full spectrum of 1984, GSN would have to do two leases, each consisting of: - October 17, 1983-July 25, 1984
- July 26, 1984-May 3, 1985
Though GSN may choose to skip some random episodes along the way. If fresh Pyramid episodes arrive to GSN, that will be a step in the right direction with regard to fresh classics. And later on, it may get better.

Who said that the $25K Pyramid lease expires this May? Not Zach Horan, I hope.

It wouldn't surprise me if they at least get a fresh lease of one classic. Pyramid is the only reason why I still would even want GSN at this point. Just curious, how long did the taping of 1 episode of Match Game or shows like that take? Much quicker than what's described here for NBC DoND. An entire week's shows are taped in one day. With a lunch break after the first 3 shows and they return to do the later two.

About 30-35 minutes. Game shows almost always taped in real time, or close to it.

Who said that the $25K Pyramid lease expires this May? Not Zach Horan, I hope. I highly doubt it was a Zach Horan claim. Especially since the previous lease of June 1986 to April 1987 was for just two years (acquired in May 2012, expired in May 2014). Any claim made by Zach Horan will definitely not be posted here, as they are proven to be dead false. I really am glad GSN gave us fresh episodes of one classic last year - Jim Perry's Card Sharks. But I have a good feeling something good is going to happen this year.

That claim of the current The $25,000 Pyramid lease expiring this coming May was first mentioned by an individual commenting at GameShowNetworkNews way back in February: gameshownetworknews.blogspot.com/2016/02/the-25000-pyramid-leaving-gsn.htmlZac Horan actually commented in that thread, but did not make that claim. We do not have the May 2-8 advanced schedule yet. But keep checking because it has to come out real soon.

You know, I heard a rumor that the real reason GSN didn't pick Scrabble (also hosted by Woolery) was NOT because of Hasbro, but because GSN felt it would be redundant, as they already have Lingo.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lingo is likely a placeholder for the time being, as I think there may be a morning schedule change later this year.
Whammy! has been aired to death, though the classic Press Your Luck doesn't get as much abuse, despite the latter being in the fourth cycle now (and just started 1986 as of today).
The only show I can handle on GSN as of lately is The $25,000 Pyramid, since i've gotten tired of so many airings of Eubanks' Card Sharks and Press Your Luck and I am hoping fresh episodes or fresh classics occur later this year. Can't wait to see what happens later in May.
