That will be very strange, because if that is the case, they will have been interested in the majority of the series, but not the final three months!

It's like they're doing their thing right now on purpose! I remember VH1's I Love the 80's 3D: 1983 in 2005 had clips from Bruce/Jo/Paige in Master Quality. VH1 gave us a taste (albeit a very brief one) of those final three months, so there is NO way GSN will NEVER do the same.

Interesting!
I say so because if I had seen them it was a very long time ago and I don't even remember!

CardSharksFan8689 files.acrobat.com/a/preview/becd35cd-8597-43df-bcb9-7dfbd598f869The PDF has just come out. It says that PYL goes to 200 on September 29. They COULD jump to the final three months for the new lease later on, much like the 2014-2016 lease of The $25,000 Pyramid (Spring-Summer 1985 episodes/Fall 1987-Spring 1988 episodes), and the current lease of Match Game (First Daily Syndicated season/1978-1979 episodes). I cannot believe this! It means that GSN has not had any "new" pre-21st century material since they got the lease to the very beginning of the $25,000 Pyramid's run! Heck, Buzzr might acquire the rights to the final three months of Press Your Luck before GSN does! I retract this statement. GSN now has a new lease of Card Sharks with Bob Eubanks.

Here's the thing:
I have no idea how many re-acquired episodes of PYL could they pick up in each future lease that isn't the final three months. They've shown episodes #001-#050 (50), #052-#111 (59), and #561-#696 (130; 6 skipped). Then there's 88 from #112-#199 (including the Larson two-parter, but not including #182).
If the Halloween episode doesn't get aired at all this Halloween, I think it's a safe bet that there will be 68 episodes from 1984, and 62 for the final three months.

October 31 may be do or die for the final three months of Press Your Luck. If October 31 comes, and a normal summer 1984 episode is scheduled, then the remaining 1986 episodes areally still in the running. If Halloween 1984 airs, then all hope is lost for at least a while. I'd say the least we'll be getting in terms of Halloween episodes is Jim Perry's Card Sharks (if it gets skipped before Halloween).

I Just realized something: The first set of "New" episodes that first aired from 2001 to 2003 was 200. The second second of "New" episodes that first aired from 2003 to 2005 was 250. If GSN completes the final three months since getting the program back in 2012, they will have aired 300 "New" ones, for a total of 750 episodes. Yes, I know they skipped the 11/30/83 show, and that technically, they didn't air it while Buzzr did. However, such episode was in fact penciled for the April 1, 2013 PDF, and the 12/7/83 show was not penciled for the April 8 PDF initially.

I am thinking that GSN has licensed a total rounded number of 750 episodes some years ago that they would air in separate packages. It would seem quite awkward to air 450 episodes during 2001 to 2009, and air only 240 episodes from 2012 to this day, bring the total number of fresh episodes aired to a non-rounded 690 episodes. Plus one has to take into consideration that Ep. 530 (10/4/1985) was skipped by GSN, so that brings that number down to 689. So we may be able to get 61 episodes from the remainder of 1986 later on down the road. But we have to go through the so-called episode order-filling 1984s first.

I wonder if all the episodes were converted to digital from the moment GSN acquired the program in 2001? There's the early GSN promo with the Willie Nelson Whammy (2001), and then there's the clip from that June 1986 episode in VH1's I Love the 80's 3D: 1983 (2005). I also remember such GSN promo had Whammy animations from 1985 episodes, which they would eventually acquire two years later. And you typed 589 instead of 689.

Thanks for pointing out the typo.
I also read somewhere quite a while ago that U.S. broadcasting laws may require at least 85 episodes for off-network syndication. It may seem like GSN leases 50 episodes of certain series, but in reality they actually acquired at least 100 episodes, and the remaining episodes in such leases would start airing several months afterwards.
It is commonplace for rerun networks to acquire at least 100 episodes in an off-network syndication package (usually rounded to the nearest ten), even though the bare minimum is 85 episodes for most shows (65 for children's shows - cartoons or educational).
It could be possible that the animated Little Rascals series may not be airing in syndicated reruns because there are not enough episodes to meet the magic number of 65 for off-network syndication (I read on a German website that there are 17 half-hour episodes in such syndication package). And no DVD release is in the works - possibly due to ownership conflict among multiple companies (it may be a very expensive DVD set if all the parties agree to put it on DVD).

Is this what you were referring to? It says 85-100, which more or less corresponds with what you've been saying. www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2015/05/broadcast-syndication/Also, I should address this: There's the possibility that the Halloween special of Press Your Luck from 1984 may air as normal; it may not necessarily be reserved for October 31 this year.

Here is the latest PDF schedule: files.acrobat.com/a/preview/7f37c159-201d-422e-a6ed-a11eb83d2ccdIt appears that Lingo is a goner. But guess what's replacing it at 11:00 a.m. ET? Wheel of Fortune! And it appears to be from the 2013-2014 season. It is speculated that the reason for the lease may be due to celebrating Pat Sajak's 35th year of hosting the series. Plus, this may be the very first full lease of Wheel of Fortune that involves the computerized puzzle board. Episodes will air back-to-back every weekday. What's really coincidental is, this is the very week that Pat Sajak will turn 70 years old. A milestone worth celebrating for sure! Also, on October 28, GSN will air some Halloween classics. Match Game 77 will air as usual at 8:00 a.m. ET, but at 8:30 a.m. ET, Match Game '90 will be airing instead. There will also be a one-off airing of Family Feud '94 from Halloween that year, and the 2002 episode of Whammy! The All-New Press Your Luck will air instead of Perry's Card Sharks. The $25,000 Pyramid, however, remains status quo. The next PDF schedule may show some more Halloween goodies for October 31, and maybe this is a sign that the Halloween 1984 episode of Press Your Luck may be included in the current lease, and if it is, then all hope is lost for the final three months of the series.

Yes, let's celebrate Pat's 35 years of hosting Wheel with episodes from three years ago.
