It appears that Lingo is a goner. But guess what's replacing it at 11:00 a.m. ET? Wheel of Fortune! And it appears to be from the 2013-2014 season. It is speculated that the reason for the lease may be due to celebrating Pat Sajak's 35th year of hosting the series. Yes, let's celebrate Pat's 35 years of hosting Wheel with episodes from three years ago. Plus Pat's 70th birthday which falls on Wednesday that week. Also, regarding the 2013-2014 season, was there any major moments from that season? Like a million dollar win? Did the pre-Bonus Round $90,000+ win occur that season as well? If either or both, this may explain why the 2013-2014 season was a good season to acquire.

Wheel of Fortune? Now we're talking. Can we get Supermarket Sweep and The Price is Right while we're at it?

They can do better with this "35th anniversary" thing then by choosing a season from the earlier years. This is like saying "this is the only season we give a rat's ass about".

regarding the 2013-2014 season, was there any major moments from that season? Lemme see what I can find from this page... * September 16/30: The debut of the Express wedge (latter was its first taped appearance). * September 17: The CORNO CURRO CABINET missolve (yay). * October 8: Autumn Erhard makes a return appearance. * March 19: Emil solves NEW BABY BUGGY with only NE revealed, resulting in a ton of pop across social media and several TV appearances. * April 11: The 6,000th episode...which has several missolves by a contestant who still manages to win the game despite said missolves costing him over $50,000. * April 28-May 2: The " Wheel 6000" week, with a bunch of classic clips (and "Changing Keys"!) and a top value of $6,000 which never actually comes into play. * May 23: A "Big One" ($100,000/Million) is finally hit in the Bonus Round, having gone a good 182 episodes since the previous hit on June 11, 2013...and is lost. * June 4: The only $100,000 win of the season. [GSN] can do better with this "35th anniversary" thing then by choosing a season from the earlier years. This is like saying "this is the only season we give a rat's ass about". The cynical guy in me is thinking that Season 31 was a good season to acquire because it's not Season 30, what with all the classic clips in many of the latter's intros. Plus, people might go nuts again over the aforementioned CORNO CURRO missolve. That, and pretty much everything between 1973 and mid-2011 would require them to pay royalties to somebody that Sony would rather not pay royalties to, most notably Merv Griffin and Steve Kaplan.

Barker hosted TPIR for 34 years, 9 months, and 11 days, as that's the time between the first first-run airing of CBS TPIR on 9/4/72 and Barker's last first run episode of 6/15/2007. This month sees Pat Sajak break Barker's record for hosting the same game show for the longest uninterrupted amount of time, as as of 10/12 he has hosted it for 34 years, 9 months, and 15 days. His NBC debut was 12/28/1981

My guess is that everybody's overthinking the Wheel of Fortune acquisition. Let's keep it simple. GSN's ratings have been hurting lately, and the 2013-14 season is the most recent one that Sony would let the network have.
Easy peasy.

Minor update on the schedule: GSN will run Halloween week eps of 2013-14 Wheel of Fortune on October 27 and 28. I assume the rest of the week will run on October 31. The network is stunting a lot for Halloween this year. The Hellevator/Scare Tactics stunt sure didn't work out for them. Awful ratings.

While we're waiting for the PDF's for October 31-November 6, I will mention that Zap2It has the usual classics lined up for Monday, October 31. This could imply that GSN has not yet delivered the PDF schedule to Zap2It as yet, but it could mean that of the usual lineup of classics, Press Your Luck might be #290 (the Halloween 1984 episode), and maybe Card Sharks with Bob Eubanks had Halloween references on the October 30, 1987 episode (Halloween was a Saturday that year).

Zap2it (or Screener TV or whatever they call it now) hasn't gotten the October 31-November 6 schedule yet. GSN sends out the pdf schedules to everybody on the long mailing list at the same time. They sent a revised October 24-30 schedule today - nothing very significant, just some episode changes. By the way, GSN put out a press release on the Wheel of Fortune acquisition today. All 195 eps from the 2013-14 season. There was also a blurb for GSN Games' latest WoF app. Which makes me think the acquisition was in the works for a while, since they seem to have coordinated it with the new app.

caseyabell the only reason you didn't get any new PDF schedules this week was because you got two new ones last week. Because of this, the next one doesn't come until two weeks later. And finally, do you really think GSN monitors everything you say and do on your blog 24/7, and because they got offended by your criticisms, you're not receiving anymore PDFs? That's crazy talk. You've criticized GSN before. If that was the case, they would have stopped delivering them to you long ago.

I'm going to have to start attaching SARCASM labels to my blog. I was only half-joking about GSN not sending me the schedules because I've been mouthing off about the network lately. Though I have reason to believe that some folks at GSN at least glance at the blog now and then. Once upon a time GSN even sent me a bottle of wine at Christmas. Which is the only material reward I've ever earned from the blog (wink).
Bottom line is that I haven't gotten any new schedules in a while. Has GSN changed their distribution policy? We'll see. I'll publish any schedules they send to me.

Hey, guys? Keep any potential insults and whatnot to a dull moo. Or keep 'em out in general.
