On the GSN boards, someone who was a contestant on this show said he was given a Feud master tape, but it had a Password label on it.
This has led people like me to speculate that what was originally on the tapes of the ABC run was the ABC run of Password. Supposedly, The Better Sex and Showoffs were also victims of reusing tapes to record the ABC run of Feud, too.

I've noticed a good amount of tape flickering with these two Dawson Feud episodes. The tapes have not aged well it seems. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I could swear I heard from someone that the first few years of Dawson's run of Family Feud come from a local ABC station's tape archives and that Goodson-Todman had long thought they were wiped otherwise. Hence there's an episode from the daytime run in 1977 that aired on GSN over 15 years ago that had some of the original commercials slip in due to a GSN slip-up.

They had an on-screen ad saying "One game show's great stars hosts a night of great shows. TV's legendary John Davidson hosts Saturday Night Classics." Odd choice, given that (as far as I know) GSN hasn't aired any of his hosting efforts...though in fairness I think Buzzr has better odds of airing Time Machine (assuming there's anything of it in the Fremantle archives). This should be interesting. He's destroyed everything else he's hosted. I don't think he's a great host, but I disagree on the "him destroying" part - Time Machine was hamstrung by the misguided format change five weeks into the run, The $100,000 Pyramid was more a victim of the changing game show climate, and Hollywood Squares was more concerned with its wall-to-wall gimmicks and other assorted ways of farting around.

So what about the possibility that on the tapes of the early ABC episodes were originally the ABC version of Password?

So what about the possibility that on the tapes of the early ABC episodes were originally the ABC version of Password? I’d say very likely. That was the method of re use at the time. Password wasn’t airing so it seems logical they’d use that tape.

Fremantle would have the tapes of the other Grundy shows IIRC. They could have probably gotten an episode of Hot Streak to air in the wake of Bruce Forsyth's death but didn't. Whether the episodes of that, Time Machine, or 1993 Scrabble/Scattergories exist or not, who knows.

They'd have to go through Hasbro to air Scattergories the same they would for Scrabble.

I have some unfortunate but expected news.
Dawson Feud has been cut from Saturday Night Classics, with Harvey Feud replacing it. The block is now 2 hours of Match Game from 8-10.

Not surprising. Oh well. They gave it a shot.

Just rename the network Steve Harvey Network already. How many hours a week is he on GSN? 60? This is ridiculous. "Oh get used to it!" and "Stop complaining!" doesn't fly with me. GSN really needs to cut this out or I'm just gonna stop watching their channel altogether. They can't keep doing this. People will eventually get tired of all the repetition. Heck, if they cut his hours down to something like 30 a week, that would be a good change. As it stands now, overkill doesn't even begin to describe this. It's absurd, and not the good kind. This really sucks and people need to stop supporting this crap.

I've stopped watching it long ago, basically when they were doing the same with Karn and O'Hurley

People complaining about the schedule sucking in 2009 had no idea what was coming

I watch GSN for what I want to watch it for. 8am MG, 10am 25K, and 1pm MG again. More to the point, I record what I want from it and never even physically tune to the channel. The current leases are in repeat except for 8am, so I don't even bother with the other recordings, unless I need to check something or back fill my collection from the previous lease run.

The bigger problem is that the network announces one schedule, promising a number of classics, and indicates via email to those who receive the PDF schedules that it will be an ongoing thing.
Then, without fanfare, they swap it back out with the status quo.
This treatment is quite unkind to the niche fans of the network. (Same goes for Buzzr and its treatment of Wordplay.)
It's always good practice to under-promise and over-deliver, rather than vice versa.
