Some ads have been appearing for a new game show on the Food Network. It sounds interesting, to say the least.
Considering that recently Food Network has had some hits (Cutthroat Kitchen, Guy's Grocery Games) and a few misses (Kitchen Casino), it should be interesting to see how this show pans out.

It's pretty amazing that Food Network is 2nd to GSN in originals for a cable network, don't forget about the reality shows that have contest in them too like Worst Cooks, Great Food Truck Race, etc.

I have to admit, this show sounds like it has potential.
The Chopped clones have run their course, and even the reality shows seem a bit cliché. However, this one is like a combination of everything they've done to this point, so it might actually work. I like the idea of the level system, in that the higher you go the harder the challenge will be.
One familiar face, Jet Tila from Cutthroat Kitchen makes an appearance in the commercial promo at level 3, so it looks like it will be a fun game to watch, and like The Chase, it's a risk everything game at each level.

If you can't stand the heat, get out of the Kitchen. Curtis Stone hosts a show where the temperature and the paycheck rises the further you go. Welcome to Kitchen Inferno!
The game is a ridiculously simple concept. A chef competes in 4 rounds with a dish assigned by the host.
Round 1 is worth $5,000 and has the chef going up against an up and coming chef that will be making a name for themselves.
Round 2 has the chef competing against a restaurant master chef. For the first time at this level, the chef is shown the opponent and told everything, including the dish, the twist and how much time there is to make it. This round is worth $10,000.
Round 3 has the player competing against a renowned celebrity chef. This round is worth $15,000.
Round 4 has the player competing against a truly world class chef. Win this round and take home the jackpot of $25,000.
After each round, the three judges are presented the dishes in a completely blind taste test and they must decide whose dish is better. The majority rules and if the chef loses, he walks out with nothing.
After each successful level, the chef must decide whether to keep the money or rip up the check and keep going towards the $25,000 goal.
In recent years, Food Network has been running on what is essentially carbon copies of their best programs. Cutthroat Kitchen and Guy's Grocery Games are loosely based on Chopped!, and most of the reality shows are sort of interrelated.
This was my concern with a new show called Kitchen Inferno. On the surface, it appears to be a clone of "Beat Bobby Flay", but in reality, it is just a simple cooking competition, and because of its simplicity, it works.
This show is exactly what you would or should expect from a cooking competition and for that reason, it's good. My one complaint is that I wish they would say which judges voted which way, but other than that, this show, for lack of a better word, is good.
Overall rating: 8.75 / 10.

I'm glad it straddles, or else it would be too predictable. Not many cable network shows do straddle
