I have a feeling they converted two weeks of extra episodes(minus the 11/19 episode which appears to be skipped as per Buzzr's online schedule), because Alex mentioned the KIds' Week and the Around the World week gimmick on Friday's aired episodes so they felt it was worth converting them in this batch of episodes. I suspect 3/5 they'll jump back to 8/14/87, but we'll see when the schedule gets posted.

One thing i've noticed is that Trebek's style was much different than Hugh Downs or Bob Clayton or Jack Narz- i don't remember Hugh or Bob or Jack saying "is it(blank)" the way Alex says it- usually Hugh or Bob or Jack would say "...is right!!"

Still catching up, but I have made it into the current batch of "fresh" episodes that began airing on Jan. 14, 2019.
I have one observation for now;
On episodes 68 & 69, Madrid Uso Jr. and Dori Grebens, are two of THE WORST CC contestants so far. Painful to watch.

Kid's Week is on. Apparently, both games were timed. I just heard the bells sound for Game 1, after a certain amount of time.

With Classic Concentration going up to 12/18/1987(skipping either 12/14 or 12/15), that means in the next two and a half weeks we'll be seeing Monica retire with three cars and $60,650, which IIRC remained the highest winner in CC's history, even counting 1989 and 1990 TofC champion winnings. Unless of course, the 12/14 or 12/15 episode is the one in which she breaks the record.

Monica first appeared on the week where they were offering a Nissan Pathfinder and a Subaru DL (also the first week with the captioned solutions in Games 1 and 2). When she last appeared, they were respectively replaced with a Toyota MR2 and a Mazda 323. Here's my Fall 1987 episode guide. markgoodson.fandom.com/wiki/Classic_Concentration/Episode_Guide/Fall_1987

At the start of Monica's first episode, Alex says there was a contestant who retired after five games with two cars. The contestant may have been Robert; Andrew Kudey says on his site that Robert retired undefeated during the Robert Vs. Mary episode. I also suspect a car was won twice with the base time of 35 during these two weeks of shows. www.angelfire.com/pa4/gssite717/collection_Number_C.html

After watching so many episodes in a short time, I can't help but notice that Trebek acts super creepy toward all of the female contestants. He comments and reacts to their marital status and age in inappropriate ways, and says things that have nothing to do with playing the game.
Frankly, compared to how he is on Jeopardy, where he is super sharp reading all (or most) of the clues in an episode, it feels like Trebek is mailing it on at times on CC. For example, when he continues to say "12 prizes available", that just seems plain lazy. If he even thought about what he was saying for 10 seconds, he would realize how foolish that sounds.

Having seen all three do it, I'd actually go with(even i wasn't born when he did it.) Bob Clayton. For example, he was a lot more minimal in his style than Alex. For example "100 gallons of gasoline...a forfeit(Red or Green Take in the Trebek version)..is not a match". He didn't act super creepy toward all of the female contestants like Trebek.

Besides IIRC the only time the times up bell rang in the first game(on the episode airing Monday at 1:30PM and 4:30PM on Saturday), un the Kids' week, no cars were won. They kept the "50 seconds for each Winner's CIrcle" rule for the College week and the Love week in 1989.

Were they starting to have Marjorie hold a contestant call sign (similar to Lacey and Susannah on the CBS Card Sharks) during this point in the run, judging from the comments in the last segment of the second episode? I know they originally had Marjorie stand in front of the green screen where the puzzle was displayed on, then by the second week of January 1988, she was now standing on the entranceway steps.
It was also around this point in the run where they started doing contestant/ticket plugs during a Winner's Circle playing.
3/6 UPDATE: The second airing of Classic Concentration had Marjorie doing a Contestant Plug intact. Though they did cut the ticket plug during the second Winner's Circle, after Robert explained "Alex Trebek" being the solution to a puzzle.

Speaking of Robert, it looks like I was right about his run coming right before Monica's. And it appears Monica was indeed the first player to win a car at the base time.

I am watching Episode 77 of CC right now (just got around to it).
Before the first game, Trebek has finally admitted that he has been incorrect in saying "12 prizes", and he will be saying "11 prizes" instead at the beginning of each game.
(That is better of course, but still only correct on the rare occasion when no puzzle squares are revealed.)
And as the second game starts, Trebek mentions that a member of the audience has pointed out that it's really only 10 prizes, due to to the fact two puzzle squares are typically revealed for each game.
So hopefully this will not need to be mentioned again.

And with the Take card and the revealing of two pieces of the puzzle, only nine prizes are in each game at the point in the run they are now, and its eight prizes if four pieces are revealed in round two. THey stopped revealing two pieces of the puzzle at the start of each game by the time they went to the two out of three game match in SUmmer 1988, by which time Red and Green takes were on the board, with one car round at the end of each show.

Whenever I am done watching and taking notes on all of the new episodes (still two or three months away, probably), one of the data points I will be able to capture is the exact number of prizes in every single game.
