Three interesting notes about episode 940:
During the opening of episode 940 of CC Alex Trebek said "Glad you could join us to help wrap up another exciting week". even though this episode aired on Tuesday, January 29, 1991.
When it was taped, episode 940 was originally scheduled to air on Friday, January 25, 1991. However, because CC was preempted on both Thursday and Friday, January 17th and 18th, 1991, for coverage of the Gulf War, this episode was pushed forward two days. It must have been taped prior to January 17, 1991.
First Edit:
This episode also featured a "would have been a TOC #3 car win qualifying time", of only 31 seconds in the first bonus game. Out of the 20 previous qualifiers for TOC's 1 & 2, only four were as fast or faster. Alex even suggested later in the show that she "could well be back on our program next year in our TOC." Alas, it was not meant to be.
There was also an unusual anomaly in the that winner's total $$ won vs. the announced value of the car. (The amount of a car's value is only ever announced as an approximate value, e.g. "over $x,xxx" , and the exact value can be calculated using the exact announced value of prizes won along with the total value of the contestant's winnings, with the calculated value of the car falling in the expected range. For example, if a car's value is announced as "over $6,200", then the calculated value would be in the range of $6,201 - $6,299.)
In this case, however, the contestant won one game with $5,267 in prizes, and won (according to an onscreen graphic) a grand total of $14,900, giving the car a calculated value of $9,633. However the car's announced value was " over $9,300". It was extremely unusual for these amounts to not line up.
Second Edit:
At the end of the episode current Champ Jeff Reesing indicated that his brother had won a Jeep Wrangler recently on CC.
Jim Reesing appeared on episodes 901-3 (Air dates Thursday/Friday/Monday, November 29/30 and December 3) and won a Jeep Wrangler. Overall, he was 4-1 in five games, winning a total of $27,951 in prizes.
