Midget references are bleeped out on MGHS hour, but Friday's 1PM CC episode had a rebus reference to a recently-banned-from-radio song.

I think it was kept, because the song title was mentioned, but the original lyrics, that the #MeToo Movement says are offensive, weren't (the new lyrics from John Legend & Kelly Clarkson were made to satisfy that movement). GSN deleted an entire scene from an episode of I've Got a Secret where Steve Allen and Kaye Ballard act out the original lyrics in Italian last Christmas.

Did any of you gang notice that Alex is using the stool and now he enters between the first and second cars from the bottom row? It just rerun yesterday. That short entrance is kinda awkward at first. Wait til we get to the episodes where Alex goes out of the Mr. Guy suits and into casualwear(I believe it was where they still had the 2-Strike format and where they still gave away a lot of cars in a short timespan).

Now splinkynip, let me ask you, how long did Alex use the stool on this show and when did he go casualwear(despite the credits continuing to say Mr. Guy wardrobe)?

I think he used the stool on and off when he needed it. Probably the entrance was switched as he occasionally mentioned knee surgeries. Never entered down the stairs again.
He switched to casual in beginning of July for a few weeks when the set got permanently-added palm trees, then again at the end of August when they did another week with college-aged contestants. The casual look stayed through sometime around October of 1989.

From what I remember, by the time he went back to suits, they tried captioning the solutions before the puzzle is even revealed and the Cashpot(which begun at $500 plus $100 each episode it wasn't won) would debut at that point but Perry Ellis began providing the suits(he didn't begin wearing the Perry Ellis suits for J! though until the Season 9 Premiere on September 7, 1992).

We're now into the point where quite often, the car wins are getting witnessed pretty much on every other car attempt. Yeah, 1988 was the year of format changes and way so many car wins. In the Best 2-of-3 format, did they still have a 5-car attempts limit? Because with the return of the 2-Strike format, they could go 4-6 weeks between car wins and it'd be impossible to have a 70-second car attempt again. And as far back as I can remember, the palm trees were replaced with some kind of autumn leaves for the fall months and snowflake designs for the winter months and back to palm trees for the spring and summer months.

I think there was always a five bonus round limit on the show, no?

Five time limit was dropped when returned to two strikes rule in final year. Everyone had their own clock time, so still possible to climb as high as 70 seconds, but i don't recall that happening often, if at all. Palm trees were almost always there, very rarely something else. Rarely a week would go by without at least one car won.

When were Cashpot and 5 Bonus Car Seconds added?

Not sure, i think sometime in 1989 for the cash and pretty sure soon after the switch back to 2 strikes for bonus seconds to make it easier for contestants to build their clock time. I'm pretty sure it was also during the last year that they didnt reveal any squares at start of game and only had one wild card in game 2 if there was extra time

Julia Burke got invited back to the show today on the second half of the 1:30PM episode because they let a contestant in an interrupted game buzz in to solve the puzzle before the first square was revealed, which meant they broke their own rule.
