... Hellevator could/should/will be more of a thrill than Steampunk'd/Skin Wars/Man Versus Fly/Lie Detectors, etc. Anything is better than what seems like fake drama. I'll take Hellevator over anything else GSN puts out until further notice.

I love modern game shows. In fact, I think The Chase and Idiotest are great game shows that GSN has put out recently.
My worry is that GSN has an age demographic somewhere around the average age of the members of the band Aerosmith. Recently, games with suspenseful elements (such as Whodunnit?) were massive turds. There were actually people asking if the contestants got murdered on the game show in question. (No, I'm not kidding. Look it up)
I said it before and I'll say it again. I like the girls hosting. I think they're cute as a button, what's not to like? They should be at a GSN City themed Halloween party (I trust Fandude41 to make the proper arrangements). However, The fact this game is coming out in October means it's going to appeal to all the horror buffs who like to sit around and watch B-grade horror films for Halloween.
I could see this maybe working for the season but not being renewed or if it does, it will be renewed around the same time next year. You will probably see people turning off of this game show around early November when the whole "It's HALLOWEEN!" schtick is over.

If Hellevator gets above and beyond great numbers, especially in the 18-49 demographic, then GSN is going to renew the show soon and bring it back a lot quicker than next Halloween. Your point is completely valid by saying it is a Halloween/horror thing, which Hellevator is.

What I'm saying is that it will start off like gangbusters because of its close proximity to Halloween and how much people like to sit around and watch B-grade horror movies around that time. The problem is there are a lot of people who only like that around Halloween. It will be interesting to see how the ratings are for the entire run of the series. Personally, I want to see a show like this do well. It would be a welcome change from the milquetoast "Let's bring back Chain Reaction with Professor Boring as host!" rut that GSN has been in lately.

GSN, you're not doing a good job at wanting me to like this upcoming show with the "Listener discretion is advised" commercial. It's annoying and I have to hit mute or change the channel whenever it comes on because of how annoying it is to listen to a contestant screaming. It's a turn off for me.

I was fortunate enough to see a full episode preview of GSN's Hellevator today. Overall, I gave Hellevator a great review. Hellevator delivered exactly what it said it would in prior press releases and on-air promos throughout the past months. If you're a traditional game show fan or really scared of horror movies, you're probably not going to like Hellevator. Jen and Sylvia were good and the editing was flawless in Hellevator. The pacing was great too.
In general, Hellevator is more of a game show than Skin Wars and Steampunk'd. Hellevator does provide cash amounts that come from challenges throughout the game. Here are the cash levels for Hellevator:
First challenge: $5,000 (one contestant only of the team of three participates) Second challenge: $10,000 (same as challenge one) Third challenge: $15,000 (same as challenges one and two) Last challenge, the "labyrinth": $20,000 (like on The Chase, whoever survived the first three challenges makes it to the final).
Grand prize: $50,000.

We have not known what this will be. We all are game show watchers. But who knows whether this will be a hit or not. Just remember to give this show a chance. Just give it a chance!

"It's just a game. It's just a game. It's just a game."
At least they're not calling it "A great game show without the bells and whistles". I'll give it a chance.

I will be the first to admit that horror films and gory things are not my cup of Joe. In fact, I detest gory disgusting things that make me have trouble at night. So to be fair to this show, I watched the show with the lights on.
That said, I was actually surprised at the nature of this game. If you take Crystal Maze and combine it with Paranormal Activity, you would essentially get Hellevator. The Soska Twins as sisters sit in a control room where all the action is at their fingertips.
How does the game work? Three contestants enter into an elevator and the elevator descends to a level -- occasionally there will be zombies or other characters thrown in for effect in the Hellevator. When the elevator stops, the Soska Twins give out a legend of a killer. Whether it's real or imagined, I can only say that they put a lot of detail into it.
The game itself consists of three logic puzzles, each one of which is tried by one contestant and is worth an increasing amount of money (first one is worth $5,000, second one is worth $10,000 and third one is worth $15,000). All puzzles are timed, and if the contestant does not make it back to the Hellevator in time, the contestant is eliminated as the Hellevator leaves without them, and a scene is emphasized in order to eliminate the contestant. No, you are not allowed to actually kill a person on a game show.
The final game is a labyrinth that is a rehash in a way of the three games that were played beforehand. Any surviving contestants have five minutes to get as much money as they can from the horror-filled scene and get back to the Hellevator where the game will end. There is a total of $15,000, with $5,000 available at three scenes and one special item that is worth an additional $5,000. All told, a team of three may earn as much as $50,000 if they do it right. I doubt anyone will ever do this, but the team on the premiere episode won $28,000 and that's pretty good.
Anti-hosts are a weakness of mine. From Anne Robinson to George Gray to Joe Rogan to Mark L. Walberg to the guy who hosted The Phone to Richard O' Brien, they may not always strike my fancy but they have to keep the contestant on their toes. To that extent, the Soska Twins are actually good at this. They talk in an ominous but continuously unimpressed tone and rag on the contestants, while still keeping track of time and keeping the contestants on their toes. Their lack of deviation actually works on this show, as it sounds creepier for a woman to talk like it's no big deal whether they win or lose. Sometimes I think they antagonize too much but it's not a bad thing. They may not be Hall of Fame or even Underdog Hall worthy but I wouldn't give them the Louie Anderson treatment.
They do rarely help the contestant. In one challenge where internal organs had to be weighed to exactly 15 pounds, a chart was given with the weights of the organs exactly, and one combination made that total possible.
The game isn't going to win any awards for horror buffs who probably see creepier stuff than this all the time, but the show is a tried and true formula that seems to work. If there is one weakness of the game, it's that horror themed anything does well in October but not so much in November. I worry about what will happen in subsequent episodes. If you're like me and hate horror, keep the lights on but try to enjoy this show.
My rating: 7.25 out of 10. It's not must see TV but most shows on at 5 o' clock on Wednesday kinda suck anyways.

I bet the only thing I would like about the show would be the commercials.
I'm eager to see the ratings report when they come.

Is it wrong if I think this show wasn't that bad? I actually thought it was alright. Nothing too spectacular, but not bad at all.
