My rating: 7.25 out of 10. It's not must see TV but most shows on at 5 o' clock on Wednesday kinda suck anyways. I have repeatedly said Hellevator should be on in a later timeslot, even on a different night if necessary. 5pm PT is obviously way too early for a horror game show. 10pm ET/7pm PT would probably be a better timeslot for Hellevator, but only time will tell with ratings. I have also said, due to the later-is-better timeslot for a show like Hellevator, that the 11pm ET encore might have actually done better or pretty close to the 8pm ET premiere.

If it's okay with you guys, I'm going to merge this into the Hellevator thread.

The show actually isn't bad, it's better than I thought, but it does suffer from a simple case of bad timeslot. I watched the 8 o' clock PT rebroadcast. It was still early at 8 o' clock to watch it and a lighthearted show like Idiotest should be on earlier with this show maybe being a 10 o' clock show.
Everything works on a simple pretense. It's not "HOLY SHIT I WANT MORE OF THIS" but the hosts are good enough and the game itself is a formula that works.

I bet the only think I would like about the show would be the commercials. I'm eager to see the ratings report when they come. Hellevator debuted (the 8pm ET showing) to a strong 503,000 total viewers and a 0.15 in the 18-49 HH rating (should equal about 185K 18-49 viewers, we will see later). Definitely a strong premiere for Hellevator. Update: 186K 18-49 viewers for 8pm Hellevator.

Full ratings for 10/21 now available: 7:30pm Family Feud: 395K/132K 8:00pm Hellevator (premiere): 503K/186K 9:00pm Idiotest (new): 281K/84K 9:30pm Idiotest (new): 212K/35K (series low in both 18-49 and total viewers for Idiotest) 10:00pm Family Feud: 288K/92K 10:30pm Family Feud: 365K/115K 11:00pm Hellevator (encore): 144K/51K It's safe to say the only real winner of the night was the Hellevator premiere. Idiotest crashed, Family Feud recovered (and was not its normal self because of bad lead-in Idiotest) while the Hellevator encore did awful. I bet viewers wanted to give Hellevator a shot, just to see what it is, and they probably felt like "one, and done". The premiere did very strong, and it all went downhill after that. I bet the show will be off the air after the first (and likely last) season is exhausted.
I bet reruns of Card Sharks and Press Your Luck see better numbers than Hellevator will.

"I bet reruns of Card Sharks and Press Your Luck see better numbers than Hellevator will."
In total viewers it's barely possible. In 18-49 fuhgettaboutit. The oldies skew beyond the grave (hm, maybe they could work those demos into Hellevator).
GSN has to run something to keep the median viewer age below 90. That's why Steampunk'd still has a chance for renewal despite modest total viewer numbers. In fact, it's why Idiotest got renewed a couple times despite so-so total viewer averages. Anyway, my review of the show from the blog...
Hellaciously funny
Just watched the debut ep of Hellevator on GSN, and I can honestly say that I was never scared. I was, however, mightily amused.
This is one of the funniest shows GSN has ever developed. The premise is simple: a combo of Beat the Clock and Friday the 13th. Three put-upon contestants have to complete timed stunts in an abandoned warehouse full of screams, fake corpses, fake corpses doing a lot of screaming, stage blood, stage guts (and other body parts), fiery furnaces, eerie lights, and various low-paid extras playing creepy undertakers and nutcases.
To top it off, the twisted Soska twins mess with the contestants from a control room somewhere in the warehouse. It's all a lot of goofy fun, like a slasher flick where nobody really gets slashed. There's also a fair bit of suspense as the poor schlubs try to finish the stunts while the clock ticks down. Though the corpse of Bud Collyer never turns up, his spirit seems to hover above the ghoulish proceedings. Except the Soskas don't yell stop the clock.
In the debut ep the contestants managed to relieve the producers of $28,000. They deserved it, just for getting splashed by all the faux gore. Meanwhile, I was flipping over to the NLCS during the commercials. The Cubs were going through their own hell. At least they didn't have to put up with the Soskas.
Oh, one more thing. GSN must have liked the numbers. I just got a new schedule for October 26-November 1 and they added another run of the show on Friday night. Even the same-day rerun - never understood that programming strategy, but what do I know? - got 51K in 18-49, which is not terrible by GSN standards.

I didn't think the Soska twins were that bad, but I'm of the type that a personality has to go with the show. If they were standing there cheering "HURRY HURRY GET INTO THE ELEVATOR" I don't think the show would work as well. To be unimpressed and keep pressure on the contestants is part of the game.
I don't see this show doing much after Halloween, because there's only so much B-grade cheese that a person can take.
I find it annoying that GSN has essentially become the "HARVEY FEUD" network. I like the guy, he's brought new life into the show but this is overkill.

CardSharksFan8689, I have a feeling this may be the case for Hellevator. There was a lot of hype for the premiere and I doubt it will click for future weeks. I see Hellevator going in the direction of American Bible Challenge, but proportionally to the amount of viewers. American Bible Challenge premiered to 1.73 million viewers but then the rest of the episodes averaged between 700K-950K in 2012. Hellevator debuted to 503K and I can see the rest of the episodes averaging around half or a little more than half of Wednesday's premiere. On a side note, the next Republican Debate airs this Wednesday on CNBC. That usually pulls a lot of viewers, which weighs a lot of the rest of television down. We'll see if Hellevator takes a hit. Anyway, my review of the show from the blog... Casey, Steampunk'd should have been immediately cancelled based on its season's average of poor ratings about a month ago. But, due to a weak development slate and the fact that Steampunk'd had an upward trend in both 18-49 and total viewers since debuting in its 8pm timeslot, then it should be on the bubble. And I would not call the Steampunk'd total viewer numbers "modest". The first two episodes may have been modest, but the rest, all below 300K, are poor for GSN primetime. The latest on Steampunk'd is that it has been cancelled, mainly due to the fact that GSN aired a new promotion for all their shows during the Hellevator premiere which did not include Steampunk'd (but did include equal clips/highlights of Hellevator, Skin Wars, The Chase, Idiotest, Chain Reaction and Family Feud).

"The first two episodes may have been modest, but the rest, all below 300K, are poor for GSN primetime."
GSN's prime time average for the most recent week (October 12-18) was 365K viewers. Steampunk'd got 298K for its finale on October 14. A bit below the weekly total viewer average, but hardly awful. Meanwhile, the show did 113K in 18-49, a number that's just fine for GSN at any time of day.
Just because the show wasn't mentioned in a promo is far from definite news of cancellation. As you point out, the show steadily built its numbers in its later weeks. Steampunk'd certainly has a chance for renewal, especially considering that Idiotest has gotten a couple of renewals.
Not that I watched Steampunk'd myself. But some other people did. And it skewed very young by GSN's geriatric standards.
Meanwhile, Hellevator's 183K in 18-49 was huge for GSN. It more than tripled the lead-out hour, for instance, and was easily the top number for the night. If the show maintains anything like that demo rating, it's a lock for renewal. The total viewer number was fine, too.
The one problem may be that Hellevator looks relatively expensive by GSN standards. Lots of extras, lots of props, lots of production.

"Just because the show wasn't mentioned in a promo is far from definite news of cancellation"
I'm pretty sure it does. It's a poor performing show that is not featured in GSN's newest promo that features all of their shows minus Steampunk'd. Honestly, I thought Steampunk'd had a shot of life in 2016, not necessarily for a full season, but at least a one or two episode special as lead-out to an episode or two of Skin Wars next summer.
Hellevator does look expensive. I actually question if Hellevator is as expensive as The Chase. The Chase only gives away cash to contestants on about one out of every five episodes. The contestants on the Hellevator premiere walked away with $28,000 and other episodes will likely be similar. As you said, the props and actors/stunts people aren't cheap either.
Casey, also sorry for the minor correction but the 18-49 for Hellevator was 186K, not 183K.

I don't know if you could call Hellevator expensive. I've heard that The Chase is on the pricey side as well.
I mean, have you seen The Beast's food bill lately?!!?

I'm eager to see the ratings report when they come. Ratings continue to remain positive for Hellevator. The second week (October 28th) outdid the premiere week in 18-49's but fell in total viewers. 430,000 total viewers/243,000 18-49 viewers, which is a very respectable showing. This past week, Hellevator fell big in both 18-49 and total viewers, down to 288,000 total viewers and a 0.13 in the 18-49 HH rating (which should equal about 160K 18-49 viewers). Both Hellevator showings are strong in the 18-49's for GSN, but is definitely scaring the traditional, older audience away. So far, I would think, GSN is happy with Hellevator's performance.
