Spoiler alert: Look for a $30,000 win during the week of June 4, 1984, which starts tomorrow.

Squigenny has posted the first four shows from the 5/28-6/1/84 week on their Youtube page(the episodes after which David L. Lander went to the doctor and was diagnosed with MS) for those who didn't see it, and will presumably post the 6/1 episode tomorrow.

Been catching up and I figured that's why he didn't make a grand entrance like the rest of the stars. I've really enjoyed this particular week so far. I was rooting so hard for Mindy Cohn to win that lady the $30k. I also noticed one day Gene Wood accidentally introduced David as from Happy Days.

Also notice on last night's rerun, Rich Jeffries announces at least the Monday-Tuesday episodes, now Brendan, do you still think that Johnny Olson announced the Wednesday-Friday episodes of this week(episodes #156-#158)?

You might be thinking of someone else. I never paid attention to who announced which episodes when the series first aired, so I wouldn't have made a claim like that.

You might be thinking of someone else. I never paid attention to who announced which episodes when the series first aired, so I wouldn't have made a claim like that. I have been tracking that.
I haven't watched any episodes yet of the latest fresh batch yet (stockpiling on my DVR for later viewing), but I can confirm that whenever there was a change in the announcers over a single week, it has always been a 2 day/3 day split, as suggested.
Through the first 25 weeks of MGHSH, there were five weeks where Gene Wood announced the first two episodes, and Johnny Olsen announced the last three. In another thread (Super PW VTR Dates?), there were specific production dates/times posted for some MGHSH episodes, and the taping dates seemed to confirm the idea of a "Day One - Two episodes/ Day Two - Three episodes" taping split for a single week of programs.
Out of the other 20 weeks, Gene Wood announced 19 entirely, and Johnny Olsen announced 1. So it was more common for a single announcer to do the entire week than to have a split.

Just noticed that Buzzr made quite a bit of edits to Michael Winslow episodes. Fortunately, one of them is available from the original broadcast. In that missing footage, Michael does a stereotypical Chinese accent after answering "Chinese restaurant".

Personally, I am of the opinion that editing should not occur. I think there should be some sort of disclaimer for these racially and sexually sensitive episodes, to the effect of the following:
"The episode you are about to see is a product of its time. It may depict some of the ethnic and racial prejudices that were commonplace in American society in the early-to-mid 1980s. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. While the following does not represent the Buzzr/Fremantle view of today's society, this episode is being presented as it was originally broadcast, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed."

So Gene pretty much gave away the taping date of the NBC Soaps Week. He said "the day before Easter", which was April 22. That means this week was taped 21-22. The taping dates on the Wiki page are somewhat askew. The soap week still lists 4/28 and 4/29, and the weeks before it are off, as well.
Going by Gene's statement about the soap week being taped Easter weekend (4/21 and 4/22) and the info from the April NBC studio schedule, I'd put the VTR dates as such:
3/31, 4/1: Week 25 (Soupy Sales, etc.)
4/7, 4/8: Week 26 (Chuck Wagner, etc.)
4/14, 4/15: Week 27 (Larry Linville, etc.)
4/21, 4/22: Week 28 (Soaps)
4/28, 4/29: Week 29 ('50s stars) 5/5, 5/6: Week 30 (Kim Hood, etc.; again, confirmed by an Indianapolis newspaper article)
Since we know the "Too Close for Comfort" week was taped on February 18th and 19th, that does throw a little bit of a monkey wrench into the tape dates between then and Week 25. Somewhere in there, they must have taped 10 episodes in one week.
Same deal between Weeks 30 and 33 (Randi Oakes, etc.): There must have been a 10-episode week in there, too. If I had to guess, I'd say Week 32 (Kari Michaelsen, etc.) was taped midweek, as I believe Gene mentioned they were recording in a different studio.

Gene Wood was unavailable on April 29, 1984, because Family Feud was taping a special Olympics Week for ABC Daytime (Aired: July 16-20, 1984). Wonder what made Gene unavailable for all of Week #32 in May 1984? Couldn't have been the premiere of Body Language, that was taped on May 22 (and possibly 23rd).

Johnny O. announced the first week of Body Language, anyway. I suspect if Geme Wood missed week 32 of MGHS it would have either been because of Feud or due to illness. Feud and MGHS were the only shows in Spring 1984 on which he was regular announcer.

I forgot there was a picture of a May 17th ticket on the Wiki page. That had to be one of the taping days for Week 32.
If I had to speculate, I'd say they taped for four days in a row, from the 17th to the 20th, and did 10 shows.

As I have continued to slowly work my way through the last batch of MGHSH that BUZZR dropped earlier this year (25 of 40 still left), I wanted to pass along an observation about Jon Bauman.
Setting aside for a moment his much discussed shortcomings, there was one particular weird thing he did every show. When he was transitioning from center stage to the HS set with the MG winner, he would ALWAYS grab the hand/arm wrist of the MG Winner to lead them up to the HS set. For a woman, he would just grab their hand, and lead them, and it seemed OK.
But with a man, it always felt really awkward. He'd reach for them the same way as he would a woman, realize he didn't want to hold his hand (and the contestant probably didn't want to hold Bauman's hand either), grab the wrist instead in a very awkward manner, and then lead them up to the set. I just cringe every time it happens.

In that missing footage, Michael does a stereotypical Chinese accent after answering "Chinese restaurant". Michael Winslow is competing in Americana's Got Talent this year, the 16th season. He made it through to the live shows, and just last night competed in the semi-final round, after performing in last week's quarterfinals and advancing during the results show by winning the live "viewer save" vote. It will be revealed tonight if he advances to the finals.

I finally finished BUZZR's batch of MGHSH episodes that went through episode 166, and I have two comments.
Looking back at the data on two telephone match sequences, I would have to say that it was scheduled to end after five winners, regardless of how many tries were needed. The first telephone match ran for 8 episodes (74-81), and stopped after the fifth win. Episodes with wins were 74, and 78-81. The second telephone match ran for 7 episodes (154-160), and stopped after the fifth win. Episodes with wins were 154, 156, 157, 159 and 160.
My other comment is regarding the Super Match on episode 166. The question was "<Blank> Face", and when queried, Fannie Flagg responded with "Put on a Happy". "Put on a Happy Face" is, of course, the title of a song in the Broadway Musical "Bye Bye Birdie". This show is of special significance to GR. In the original Broadway Production of BBB, after Dick Van Dyke originated the lead role of Albert Peterson, GR took over the role for the show's last six months, from April to October in 1961 (with CNR as the understudy to both DVD & GR).
IMHO, GR showed incredible restraint in not mentioning this at all during MGHSH, especially considering this was the only time that GR ever appeared on Broadway.
