Very interested in seeing how this is done. I do like Leslie Jones a lot, hopefully she'll do a good job hosting. Also, I have no idea how they're going to incorporate online shopping into the whole thing. |

Card Sharks got messed with more than Press Your LUck did. Only the bonus round is the difference between 1983-86 and 2019.

Hey, I moved a lot of stuff around. The AP-Sweep thread is moved to the Modern board, due to the news that a host has been found for the potential revival. I merged all posts into this as well.
EDIT: We can speculate what the show will involve. We will not claim that we know everything regarding it.

I'm just afraid that Fremantle will find a way to screw this up I hope not. If Al Howard's son is the executive producer of the show like we're almost sure of, they definitely won't. |

I think the main reason why new PYL seems flawed is largely because of this need to make hour-long game shows a thing. PYL just seems so stretched out to fit that slot, hence that bonus round. At least with Pyramid and Match Game, both shows have two full games to make up the hour. If they're insistent on making Supermarket Sweep a full hour like that, they should do two full games in an hour.
This is something that screams syndication though. I'm happy for Leslie though, I find her a real joy to watch and I can't wait to see her host.

This is something that screams syndication though. Agreed. I've got people trying to pick a fight about where this should go on the GSP Twitter page. "Why do you think this won't work in primetime?" "Uh, because it really doesn't have a primetime-like feel to it." Just... I think that should be the end of the argument. |

I honestly hope that Leslie Jones does way better as a host than she did in Ghostbusters 2016.
Supermarket Sweep was a game I used to love the shit out of in the 1990s and early 2000s, I don't want to see the revival get torpedoed because the host mouths off like how Hollywood thinks all African-American women should be portrayed.
I see there's tons of potential for her to be really good, it's just there's also tons of potential for her to be really bad.
