New season debuted Sunday. Not much has changed, but the bonus round at the end has been changed up a bit. The winning team now has to solve five riddles and find the correct grocery items to win $100,000. First item is $5,000, second item is $10,000, third is $25,000, fourth is $50,000, and the final item is $100,000. They have 90 seconds to do it. The kicker: they have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Even if the team doesn't get all five items in the allotted time and they get like three of the items before time is up, they don't lose the $25,000. They keep it.
Honestly, I don't like this change. The thing I liked about the bonus round in the original version and even last season for that matter is that it was all or nothing (not counting the money won in the Big Sweep round). You don't get all three items before time is up in the DR version, you don't get the bonus money. If you go for the extra money last season but fail to solve the next riddle, you lose the money you won from the previous riddles. I liked the high stakes from before. Now those stakes are gone and the bonus round doesn't have that excitement I liked before.
Also, Leslie Jones is still too hyper for my liking. She still yells "Sweep" annoyingly. She can be funny at times, but I still think she's a little on the obnoxious side.

If anyone is wondering why I have lists of episodes of Supermarket Sweep on there, the answer is simple: I'm not satisfied with the list on the Supermarket Sweep fandom. Where are they getting these airdates from? When I provided evidence of the actual episode numbers as well as evidence of skipped episodes, they were rejected. So that's what these lists are for.

Episode 1529 (which was skipped earlier this week) airs on Friday, October 22 at 9:00 p.m. This is the only fresh episode airing as part of the Super Duper promotion week. Then, for the week of October 25, fresh Season 5 episodes resume in the 9:00 p.m. timeslot. |

So, #1535 and #1538 are the only 2 regular episodes to use their current theme as a Big Sweep win cue, and #1551 was rerun on September 16, 1999 on PAX and #1521 was rerun on August 13, 1999(w/the corresponding logo on the cards too and was the first episode taped after the Lifetime logo refurbishment), and for the Twin Car Giveaway month, the first 2 episodes on this list were aired during the 2nd week of the event and last night's episode was aired during the 3rd week of the event, so it was rerun during the April 19-23, 1999 week on PAX. Now, I get the feeling that the next time the show gets fresh episodes, the Cruise To Paradise week would immediately follow the TCG finale, then the debuts of the Cracker Jackpot, the Frozen Yogurt and the Magazine Display(which was originally placed next to the checkout counter before it was relocated to the back of the market for the 5th season but was still never used as a Big Money Maker).
