How many $30,000 in a single day wins were there from 1976-1980? I know there was Lynn Redgrave & Billy Crystal in 1977 and Robert Walden in 1978, any others? Off the top of my head, according to other New York "Pyramid" fans, Lois Nettleton in 1977 and Sal Viscuso in 1979.
I'll see if I can find more.

*March 31-April 04, 1986* Vicki Lawrence, David Graf -Vicki: 0; David: two 10Ks (in same day) -David qualifies Patty Geiger, at 36 seconds *May 12-16, 1986* Lauri Hendler, Henry Polic II -Lauri: one 10K; Henry: two 10Ks (in same day) -Henry qualifies Sydney Clifton Brown, at 37 seconds *May 25-29, 1987* Shelley Smith, Stuart Pankin -Shelley: 0; Stuart: two 10Ks (in same day) -Stuart qualifies Marilyn Richardson, at 31 seconds Just curious, were any of these three double-qualifiers where the second player did qualify at the time but then someone else knocked them out later on? Among shows where both qualified the same day, I've seen Toby Mandelburg & John Kiefer (10/9/85) and Marilyn Evans & Scott Junk (4/1/87), but haven't seen any episodes with 10K wins from the weeks I quoted. (Haven't seen any of the later two weeks, while from the first week I've only seen 4/2/86, which is the one where Vicki calls the judge an asshole in the closing segment because he buzzed her for "a kid's toy bag" on THINGS YOU GRAB.)

Actually, all three of them were.
1. Patty's opponent, Laura, tied the lowest qualifier at 44 seconds in the first round, but Patty's 36-second time knocked her right out. So Laura has the record as the contestant with the shortest duration of being qualified: half an episode.
2. The Hendler/Polic episode was the first one after the third tournament ended, so all the qualifying slots for the fourth tournament were empty. Sydney's opponent, Esther, automatically qualified when she and Henry won the $10K in 51 seconds.
3. Marilyn's opponent, Deborah Howard, qualified at 45 seconds on that double-headed day.

I'm seeing that Tim Butler came three weeks after Patty, at 33 seconds - until him, it would've been Patty, Barbara, and then Laura tied with 5-day champ Pam Reimer (whose 5th day was the aforementioned 4/2), wouldn't it?

I wonder how many times each year the top prize was won on the daytime version alone? Here's what I've got (UPDATE: Thanks, Brendan. So that's at least 98.):
1982: 8 1983: 25 (At least) 1984: 14 (At least) 1985: 17 1986: 18 1987: 12 1988: 4

I count 17 times for 1985 and 12 times for 1987. It happened four times in 1988.

New Facebook info says that the final $100K tape date was on Friday June 17, 1988. Thanks so much, Brendan.

Makes sense - I figured, at a minimum, the next-to-last week (8/22-26) was taped somewhere in June. On 8/26, Dick gives Michael Spound a funny intense look after he finishes his first category that day, and he stammers that he just got married (to the other half of that week's celebrity pair, Heidi Bohay) - IMDB says their wedding day was May 29.

Interestingly enough, weeks 107 and 109 had Johnny Gilbert announcing, but 108 and 110 had Bob Hilton announcing.

SPeaking of Hotel, Nathan Cook died on 6/11. I wonder if this week of shows taped between 6/11-6/16?

Two new pop-ups on da YouTubes for those who may not have seen these before. Yesterday, Bill Hite, who was the winning contestant on 11/5/85, posted an original broadcast of his episode recorded off KCBS. (Spelling comes from his channel.) He gave the clip a nonsense name, the sort that's not intended to be noticed (and yet, it popped up in a search anyway); he's also turned off comments. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pspk5gcRfJY(The channel name had me thinking, who?? Then I started watching and then it made sense. ) And today, the Game Show Temple Archives posted an episode of $100,000: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OokTQE5grfIAnd it leaves me with questions. It's Mary vs. Thea, and Mary is Mary Monte, of the January 1987 $100,000 tournament win. (With her here, and the celebrity pair as Teresa Ganzel and Nathan Cook, the posted episode can't be 1987 as listed - it'd have to be the first week of December '86. I'm leaning toward it being 12/4.) But she gets swept here by Thea! Evidently, they decided that something in this episode wasn't kosher, and invited her back. Possible I wasn't paying close enough attention, but nothing immediately jumped out at me on that score - what would have prompted the call-back?

I've watched this episode a bunch of times to try to get an answer, too. I have two theories:
1. Something fishy happened at 7:30, where that obvious edit is.
2. The judge later realized that they should have cuckooed Mary for leading her partner to the first letter of the word. (They later did announce once on the air that this was a new rule. Maybe it grew out of this episode.) If they would have cuckooed her, the team could have gotten the next word in those couple of seconds and had 20 instead of 19.
That's all I got. I do know, though, that when Mary returned, Dick mentioned that part of the reason she was back was because he had made a mistake.

I've watched this episode a bunch of times to try to get an answer, too. I have two theories: 1. Something fishy happened at 7:30, where that obvious edit is. You mean 7:18, the sudden close-up as Nathan + Thea are on the word BOSS? "The letter before V" for UTENSILS - this would make sense. Reviewing both of those now, I'm sort of leaning toward the latter, though either or both together would do it. The latter makes me think of 10/12/87 - an instance that I'm guessing was entirely contained within that show, but the situation was Ilene Graff + contestant Susan working on getting TORTE: Ilene said "tart" with 3 seconds left, then the displays disappear, then the buzzer sounds (ostensibly for time's up), then an awkward explanation from Dick as to what happened. They later asked Henry Polic II + Marianne to win by two points instead of one due to TORTE/TART.
