Question. Were there that many instances of contestants needing to be brought back due to technical problems or else otherwise the kind of error that may have affected the game outcome? Doesn't seem like it - I've only seen it happen once, but then I'm wondering if I've only seen the one because I've only seen "so many" Pyramid episodes. That one is Jerry Ola, early in the 1980s $25,000 run - he's there on 10/11/82, but what happens is that in the final category of Round 2, partner Charlie Seibert gives away an answer and Dick says "that's it", but then they actually have to keep going because a tie is still possible. Another answer is then passed before time runs out, Jerry loses, and his opponent goes to try for the $25,000. He's then brought back on 11/4/82, for what turns out to be a 5-show run. (Among those 5, I've only seen 11/8, the first day of it being called "The New" $25,000.) Are there others out there? What I've seen to date is basically scattershot throughout The New $25,000/$100,000 runs. But just seeing the one instance makes it seem like there were much less of these compared to other shows (such as Press Your Luck, Super Password, Classic Concentration).

How about Danette, she appeared for 5 episodes in September 1985(in the final week that Jack Clark announced) but returned during Christmas Week 1985, we haven't found out what her total winnings were(and what Mystery 7 bonus prizes she won) when she returned but she won quite a loot previously. Maybe Brendan knows as he recapped that entire week and Jason (aka ttdkitrules) has that whole week. We can kinda tell how much we miss Yahoo! Groups, especially Vahan and I and definitely Brendan.

Have we also alluded that Heather Davis and Georgeanne Wright were the only 2 players who continued their regular runs immediately after their tournament runs, but neither one won the $100,000, they were both also qualified to appear in 2 Tournaments but was Georgeanne the player that took Heather out of the Tournament #6 list and who took Georgeanne out of the Tournament #7 list?

Question. Were there that many instances of contestants needing to be brought back due to technical problems or else otherwise the kind of error that may have affected the game outcome? The one ivoryface86 referred to was Danette. She almost undoubtedly returned because Adrienne Barbeau (on the opposing team) started to say one of the words in a 21-21 tiebreaker, but the judge didn't catch it. I always wondered if they gave her the $5,000 that she would have won if they had caught the error during the show.
In the first 52 weeks, I count 13 times that it happened, so it was more frequent than people might think. However, we have to remember that "Pyramid" is a very fast-paced game, and judges' decisions have to be made just as quickly.

I stand corrected and then some! Holy moly...but yeah, now that I think about it, the game's pacing would do it. The one ivoryface86 referred to was Danette. Ah...upon checking, the one with the tiebreaker in question (with the word "urgent") is one that I have seen, it's 9/17/85. You can even see Adrienne react, almost like "oh ****, I just blew it". The interesting thing there is that 9/17 was Danette's 5th day from that time, thus it otherwise would've been her last day win/lose/draw. Not that that makes any difference when there's a game error in play.

but was Georgeanne the player that took Heather out of the Tournament #6 list This one, I can check on - thinking yes, as Heather at 38 seconds is still the one to beat to get in on 1/12/87 (someone else misses by one second that day). So unless someone took her place for a few days that week, Georgeanne would have done it on Friday the 16th.

Yeah, Adrienne doesn't look too happy as they make their way to the Circle. Also check Richard Kline's face, like "Whaaaaaa...?"

So unless someone took her place for a few days that week, Georgeanne would have done it on Friday the 16th. Georgeann did indeed knock Heather out of contention on the last day to qualify. She did it twice, actually. First, she and David Graf won $10,000 in 36 seconds, beating Heather's 38, and then she and Melody Thomas Scott won $25,000 in 34 seconds.
Unfortunately, it was easy to knock Georgeann out of the seventh tournament because she and Lauri Hendler scored a time of 55 seconds. The next three contestants to win the pyramid easily beat that time.
There were two contestants from the John Davidson version who continued their regular runs after their tournaments: Debbie Steron in the first one and Jennifer Heftler in the fourth. Debbie had qualified at 34 seconds with David Graf the Thursday before the tournament, and Jennifer and Barry Jenner won $10,000 in 31 seconds (the shortest time of the 1991 version) the Friday before that tournament started. Jennifer did win $10,000 with Teresa Ganzel the day after her tournament ended, but I don't believe a mention was ever made about her being qualified for the fifth tournament. I think her time was only 52 seconds, so it was moot anyway.

There have quite a few rotating announcers during the last 14 months of the $20,000 Pyramid(especially the final 8 months, when Bob Clayton was laid to rest). Jack Clark was only the 2nd Pyramid announcer to pass away but was the last one to pass away before the USA reruns began and before the web surfing began and we've not lost another Pyramid announcer for a good 15 years, and Rod Roddy was the last Pyramid announcer to pass away before the launches of YouTube and Dailymotion IIRC. Now we're left with 1 surviving NYC Pyramid announcer and only 3 L.A. Pyramid announcers still living(something tells us that JD Roberto announced the GSN remake).

I think Jack's last episodes of Pyramid as announcer were in the first few months of $100K's run in late 1985. Steve O'Brien and ALan Kalter are still alive among NYC Pyramid announcers

Jack's final time announcing the nighttime show was Week 1 of the first $100,000 tournament. His final week announcing the daytime show was the Adrienne Barbeau/Richard Kline match-up.

Jack hosted the Now You See It pilot in late 1985 for syndication for Fall 1986 which didn't get picked up, whether he was also considered for the David Sparks version of Crosswits from 1986-87 is unknown.

Brendan, did you add the tape date for Week #053 of $100K Pyramid (December 05, 1986)?

Brendan, did you add the tape date for Week #053 of $100K Pyramid (December 05, 1986)? Nope. Was wondering about that myself. One of the tickets seen on the Wiki page is from that date.

How many $30,000 in a single day wins were there from 1976-1980? I know there was Lynn Redgrave & Billy Crystal in 1977 and Robert Walden in 1978, any others?
