When the show first started, Jim Perry often stated that the people polled were from television studio audiences. Also, there have been brief flashes of plugs on GSN that suggest they also did polls with viewer mail:

I'm editing this week's Eubanks Card Sharks episodes right now and I noticed they left in a plug for a potential future polling question in for episode #36 (OAD: 2/24/86) www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiePMn7YGA4&

CardSharksFan8689, there was another Card Sharks (Jim Perry version) contestant who became a PYL champ. Patti Campbell (first person to hit Double Your $$ + One Spin).

Speaking of Press Your Luck, I saw the first episode in the newest lease of Card Sharks with Bob Eubanks today (first broadcast since Fall 2002), and is it just me, or does the new champion at the end of the episode, Jean (a guy), look somewhat like Michael Larson, with his beard style and face structure?
I'll post a screenshot later this evening.
Vahan, regarding Patti on the Perry version, what dates did she appear on Press Your Luck? Based on the post, I would assume April 1984.

Today's episode of the Jim Perry version had a very interesting situation: Because the challenger, Rich, took ill, it began with Debbie at the Money Cards; she won the game by default.
Jim promised Rich would come back in a future episode, and for the record, he did indeed (episode #396 11/1/79).

I had just realized the edition of the original "Card Sharks" broadcast by the Game Show Network today was mentioned in the previous message after coming here to post about it and after learning of its original broadcast date being the one mentioned in it from a PDF file of the Game Show Network's programming for today since it had a question related to Halloween traditions that made me wonder whether it was originally broadcast on the date for the Halloween of that year (October 31st, 1979, or 10/31/79) or not.

The airdates and episode numbers are correct so far. Jim even said that there would be a Sweepstakes winner named Mona at the Money Cards the start of the 11/16/79 episode (#407), which we have yet to get to.
Unfortunately, #402 (11/9/79) will be skipped.

I had typed "11/31/79" by mistake in my previous message before correcting it.

I am not sure if this should go in another thread, but if it does, please move it to the rightful thread.
I normally have no problem with splitscreen promos during the fee plugs and closing credits standing alone. The one gripe I have with them is when the opening to Eubanks' Card Sharks starts prematurely in a small screen during the promo, and when the promo is done, you can only hear Gene Wood saying a latter fraction of the title "Card Sharks". The opening starting prematurely with some seconds of the promo remaining was bad enough yesterday, but today, it was the worst cutting in to the intro ever.
I fully understand that the closing to Match Game is pretty short and jI don't have a problem with one second of the opening starting at teh end of the promo. But still...
At least they didn't tamper with the opening to Press Your Luck today.

I have a question to ask regarding audience polling groups, plus an observation I'd like to bring up.
First, my question about audience polling groups. During a match, if a player gets an audience polling question exactly right, (s)he wins a $100 bonus and each member in the audience polling group would receive $10 apiece. But what I am wondering is, during the range board car game, if the player wins the car for an exact guess, or wins a $500 bonus for being off by one, does each audience polling group member receive any extra cash, like much smaller than the equivalent of the car divided by 10, or $50 per member if the player is off by one?
Now, my observation I noticed in later episodes. Does it seem as if an audience polling group from earlier in the series (1987 or earlier in 1988) gets invited back, and some or all of the questions asked to such group the first time around gets asked again on their second visit? I did notice in an early 1988 episode with the Las Vegas Showgirls a question about performing in the nude, and when they reappeared in December 1988 (the same week that Lacey returned from her maternity leave) that same question was asked again? Of course, it is strongly possible that the range board car game used strictly new questions never used during a match.
I also noticed some questions used earlier in the series were recycled later in the series or later in 1986 in the Rafferty run in syndication. One educated guess question was recycled - a question about Elvis Presley's age had he lived in 1987 (an exact guess bonus was achieved on both occasions, as if they were watching the news).
Some questions asked to 100 people were made into audience poll questions too. One example is a question asked of 100 firefighters about firefighters being permitted to go on strike. When asked of 100 people in the spring of 1986, 25 said yes. But when asked to 10 L.A. firefighters on September 3, 1986, zero said yes - and rightly so.

On Perry's Card Sharks, the 11/16/79 show began with Sweepstakes Winner Mona Moore playing the Money Cards and winning $800 as well as a 1980 Plymouth Volare.
Kinda gives you an idea of what a Car Game on the Jim Perry version might have been like.

Actually, it's Volare, not Volari. My father had one from 1980 until 1985, and it was a station wagon.

Someone posted a link on my Facebook timeline that ScreenerTV has no "new" Card Sharks episodes for January 30, heading into February. During that week, The $25,000 Pyramid will continue further into May 1983. I wonder if we will soon be approaching a reversion point with Card Sharks, in addition to Press Your Luck and maybe even Match Game? Should be an interesting two weeks to come.
