If there would have been a new forum, it probably would have been up by now. Regarding the word in bold: Nah. It would be up by now. I thought they said they were making a new board. Well, screw GSN for dumping both archives off the face of the planet. As for ivoryface86 - we kind of have a thread dedicated to it here. I don't know if we just haven't made a thread for just talking about them. (The link I posted is for videos.) This is your friendly reminder that if you don't see something you want to talk about, you're all free to make a thread for it.

Today GSN reached #1141 and #1142 of Match Game in the 8:00 hour, which is the beginning of the existing block that is currently in rotation on BUZZR. Just to clarify it is the current weekday rotation BUZZR has at 5-6 PM, and I assume the BUZZR 10 AM-12 Noon rotation has also continued primarily with the same block of MG78, but with different episodes at any given time (and with a repeat from 2-4 AM), although I haven't been DVR-ing this time slot on BUZZR lately. Since last June, the primary BUZZR rotation also been including the first 50-60 eps of MG73 along with two eps from MG74, and I assume those have continued. The current 4-5 PM rotation on BUZZR is MG75, which had not aired anywhere since June 2013 on GSN.

Recording glitch today on GSN, I missed both Press Your Luck and $25,000 Pyramid. Anyone else record them?

GSN's programming plans for the year are out. From the blog... GSN's sort of upfrontAs a faux tweet noted, GSN is holding a media upfront that's not a traditional upfront. If this sounds complicated, they're gonna have "data metrics" meetings with ad agencies throughout April instead of the usual big breakfast shindig. The metrics will tell the advertising folks that GSN's "audience is less fickle than most audiences and do a lot less channel surfing than other audiences," according to network veep John Zaccario. That's all very well, but the big news in the linked story concerns GSN's programming plans. Kind of funny to say it, but our little game show network seems to be going back to, well, game shows. Or "shiny floor" shows, as GSN's favorite weird phrase puts it. The biggest surprise for me is a renewal for Winsanity, which definitely did not wow the Nielsen Company. But it does have a shiny floor, and it will have a new format . (Maybe the renewal isn't such a huge surprise because the Donald Faison vehicle has been showing up in GSN promos lately.) Divided gets another season. A casting call and good Nielsen news had already tipped that renewal. Idiotest is also getting another go-round. You just can't stop Ben and the puzzles. Hunter March from AwesomenessTV will host a new show called Emogenius, based on those annoying little emojis. Another show called Blast Your Past is in development, where celebs "poke fun at awkward childhoods." And the network took my advice from a few posts ago and picked up Hollywood Game Night. Cash Cab is already on board. Finally, GSN says they're going to get more interactive with the home audience. They always seem to say that.

A follow-up post on the blog about GSN's programming plans... More on GSN's sort of upfrontSometimes it helps to have friends in certain places. A kindly person at GSN sent me the press release for the sort of upfront the network will run in April. For the most part the release only confirms what the linked story in yesterday's post discussed. But there are a few more tidbits about GSN's development slate. In addition to Blast Your Past, the network lists three other developing projects... D.I.Why. Contestants try to follow instructions from videos. Really, that's the concept. It's a stunt show, obviously, with the usual ticking clock. Josh Ostrovsky hosts. The Tower. You might call this the Towering Inferno of Trivia. Contestants answer questions while building a tower on a "giant video game board." At least it's not a teensy-weensy video game board. Pointless. Yeah, the U.K. show (see screenshot). Rumors about a GSN version have floated around for a while, and it's now officially in development. One more funny note. The e-mail with the press release commented: "I was secretly laughing to myself when I read a few weeks ago that you thought Hollywood Game Night would be a good addition for the network because I knew it was imminent. Anyway, I wanted to confirm your excellent instincts!" Gee, it was just a guess.

I am not sure if this belongs in Game Show News in the Modern Talk section, or the GSN/Buzzr Talk section, but since it is GSN related, I think this may be appropriate for this forum. Mandoli, please move it to the right forum if this doesn't belong in GSN/Buzzr Talk. After a decade-long tenure, David Goldhill has decided to step down as CEO of GSN. Story HERE.I strongly disagree it's going to impact any classics any time soon (I would hope not), though I did read somewhere that GSN renewed the license to the full runs of at least three of the Fremantle-owned shows - Family Feud (except for Louie's version), Card Sharks (except for Pat's version), and Match Game (except for Michael's version) - in the fall of 2009. With Match Game running out of fresh episodes (only the 1980s syndicated episodes are available from this point forward), and Card Sharks being well past the halfway point in the Eubanks series (just recently entering 1988), Press Your Luck having the final three months of the series still outstanding, and not much in terms of fresh content available plus shows like older Family Feud, Password Plus and Super Password and some others possibly not coming back (due to lower ratings), the choices for fresh classics are getting minimal as we head towards the next decade. It makes me wonder if GSN's licenses to the full runs of Mark Goodson and Fremantle classic shows are only for a decade max, expiring in 2019? Goldhill had outlasted the other two CEOs during GSN's life. Here's a brief history of the CEOs since GSN's inception: - Michael Fleming ran from 1994 to 2001 - seven years.
- Rich Cronin ran from 2001 to 2007 - six years.
- David Goldhill ran from 2007 to 2017 - ten years, the loingest tenure for a CEO at GSN.
Even though we didn't get as much classics like the previous CEOs did, I have to give him credit for getting the network to solid ratings and much better viewership, and becoming more profitable than ever before. Nevertheless, whoever succeeds Goldhill will have big shoes to fill. I wish Goldhill all the best on his future endeavors.

Hm, this is very interesting. He had a pretty decent run I have to say. There was some good, and some epic failures over the years.

Well, among some of the epic failures include:
Love Triangle Unstapled Instant Recall Dancing with the Stars Hellevator Family Trade Late Night Liars Drew Carey's Improv-a-Ganza
And some not epic, but moderate failures:
Sale of the Century Shop Til You Drop Password Plus
And then there were some huge successes:
The Newlywed Game with Sherri Shepherd Baggage American Bible Challenge Family Feud with Steve Harvey The Chase Skin Wars Winsanity Idiotest Divided
He also gave us some high rated modern acquisitions:
Minute to Win It Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? Dog Eat Dog Deal or No Deal Power of 10 Million Dollar Password
And some successful acquisitions of classics that got two or more leases in a row:
The $25,000 Pyramid Card Sharks with Bob Eubanks Match Game Press Your Luck
He apparently did more good for GSN than we realize. I congratulate him for GSN being a huge success and getting the network to its biggest viewership ever.
Speaking of Skin Wars, it makes me wonder if GSN decided not to renew for a fourth season because they knew Goldhill's tenure was soon coming to an end?

Well, among some of the epic failures include: Without Prejudice? I believe that debuted shortly before Rich Cronin left the network

Early in David Goldhill's tenure, he did give classics a chance by acquiring some shows.
Trivia Trap Now You See It Double Dare Beat The Clock As well as Black and white shows.
GSN aired those shows on Sunday nights in 2007/2008 somewhere around there.
Classics aired until 3pm ET for awhile on Monday - Fridays for a few years. Then until 2pm ET, then until 1pm ET, and finally until 12pm ET.
Weekends they typically aired from 9am-11am when GSN aired the classics on weekends.
Goldhill really did give old classics a chance, but they weren't making GSN money. It was new, fresh acquisitions and new originals that made GSN money.
I don't expect a new president to have any good or bad impact on old classics for GSN, unless they want to sort of compete with Buzzr, but not entirely. But I don't expect that.

Ah yes, I remember those days well. Buzzr's Sunday night lineup reminds me of that.
In regards to old shows, despite what some people may say, we were treated very well. We saw things such as the 1983 and 1986 episodes of Press Your Luck, Sale of the Century (I was among the many who thought that would never ever happen), and Shop 'Til You Drop.
With everything that has been done in the last decade, an important chapter is soon closing. Hopefully the new CEO actually doesn't acquire Toddlers and Tiaras.

I don't watch much GSN anymore, I have no reason to really except for Idiotest now (I miss The Chase though), but I do hope that the new CEO stays with more traditional game shows.
GSN has really changed a lot in the 10 years David Goldhill has been at the network. Different logos. Different slogans. The schedule was certainly a lot different way back when than it is now. He turned GSN into a more profitable network.
