The long awaited revival of the robotic combat competition show that debuted on Comedy Central starts tonight at 9pm eastern time on ABC. Please use this thread to talk about Battlebots. Click here to see a promo of what to expect.
I'm excited to see a rematch of Nightmare and Team Whyachi. That should be awesome. Click here to see their first match. It was epic.
So for those who watched the show when it was on Comedy Central, what were your favorite bots from each weight class? There were lightweights, middleweights, heavyweights, and super heavyweights. Here are mine. LW: Ziggo (spin-bot with a cat logo on the dome); MW: T-Minus (flipper that handed Hazard its first and only loss in the final season); HW: Biohazard (lifter with wedge skirts and almost six inches tall; SHW: Diesector (bot with jaws and hammers).

Thanks for making this. I'm going to try to watch it - if I don't forget. (Don't make me forget.) But this should be fun. They dropped the weight classes for this, right? So I'm not entirely sure there's going to be more than a fair share of upsets (lighter winning over heavier). HW: Biohazard (lifter with wedge skirts and almost six inches tall) That was a kick-ass bot. You could clearly tell who the favorites were. Definitely one of mine.

I'll definitely try to remind you when the show comes closer to being on. As for weight classes, if the promos are anything to judge by, it looks like it's all going to be heavyweights and maybe super heavyweights. Also, unlike Comedy Central's version, it appears that bots will be able to use flamethrowers. I don't know how much damage that will do to the competition, but it should be interesting to see.

Mandoli We're 40 minutes away from officially saying for the first time in a long time "The box is locked, the lights are on, it's robot fighting time!"

Also, it's worth mentioning that it would help to avoid posting spoilers and if you do have something could be considered a spoiler, please use the spoiler box. Thank you and enjoy the show.

Loving the show so far. Nice to see some familiar faces in this competition like Zack Bieber (El Diablo) and Lisa Winters (Tentomushi). I was always a fan of both of their bots back in the day.

Goddamn. Now I understand just why I missed this show. The hits just keep on coming. EDIT: The team that brought you Son of Whyachi versus Nightmare. Hell yeah. EDIT #2: Result of that, courtesy of a spoiler: Now that was a fight. If there wasn't a damn countout, they would have gone the whole three minutes trying to TKO each other. Wonderful.

What a shame for Nightmare. It was dominating the fight (literally ripped apart the mini bots for Warrior Clan) and then it got flipped. I loved seeing it try to right itself, but it got stuck in the wall. I hope they get a wild card.
Results:
Icewave KO's Razorback (Zack Bieber's bot) Plan X (Lisa Winters's bot) beats Wrecks via decision Bite Force beats veteran Warhead (Team Razor from Robot Wars) via decision Warrior Clan KO's Nightmare (battle of two legends)
I was hoping there would be one more battle or two, but the four fights we got were exciting enough. If I'm right, then this is a Sunday only thing. Not sure if tonight's episode will get a rerun sometime this week or not.

America welcomes a little robot carnage into their lives (and living rooms). I'm not a ratings person, so I have to ask. Is that good?

I'm not a ratings person, so I have to ask. Is that good? Yep. Didn't get as many viewers as Feud - #1 show in primetime last night - but it's still a great figure.

Just wasn't sure how well it stacked up against other shows like Feud. Hopefully it can keep this up. That way we get season 2 and maybe even more.

It didn't stray too far from the norm, which was good. So that probably kept viewers tuned in - especially those who had seen the original. I'm going to assume that the diehards are going to watch the rest of the series. I don't know if the casual John Q. Public will, and that's the challenge.
