As far as circulating episodes from Classic Concentration go, next up is one from College Week II (September 25-29, 1989). We also now know when they completely revamped the intro. Previously, they made slight changes to it as the show went along, but starting on September 25, 1989, it became the intro they used up until the August 30, 1991 finale.
I think I like this intro the best. Just Alex quickly greeting the audience in a close-up, then going to the player island.

$54,819 has gotta be the second-highest total yet. Way to go, Mike. It is the second highest total, behind only Monica Norid, who won five games and three cars across episodes 140-142, and retired with $60,650 worth of prizes.

The College Week II episode is airing now, and this time, in the form of a complete episode. September 28, 1989.
The next complete episode in circulation is from December 6, 1989. Athelia Vs. Carlton. There was one more special week in 1989 for November 13-17, in which identical twins played.

The first Double Play on the 9AM Narz Monday airing had a timely reference when it taped but was no longer timely by the time the episode would have first aired in March or April 1977(if the episodes aired on your local station in the order taped). The first two games were done in time to play the money game. THen the "money game" rebus was solved early enough to play a third DOuble PLay round(IIRC the first time that's happened on the Buzzr airings), and The Double PLay was won two out of three times, and a contestant for IIRC the first time in the Buzzr airings won two cars.

Wow, I just watched this episode, and that contestant was just a unstoppable force at solving rebuses. 9 rebuses in the program, and she solved eight of them, including three impressive solves with much of the puzzle still covered for the two main game and one money game solves. I thought the other contestant just seemed checked out during the money game b/c her opponent was so intimidating at solving everything.

Were the middle cars (4 and 5) always of higher value? That's probably why they would often change those two, but leave everything else as is for three weeks in a row.

Because those two spots changed so often, there was greater variety in them. Looking over the roster, it was not uncommon for lower value cars like a Hyundai Excel, Ford Escort, Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Sprint, Dodge/Plymouth Colt, Dodge Shadow, etc. to be in those spots.
It is accurate to state that several higher value cars only appeared once in one of those two spots for a single group of shows (at least through the first 620+ episodes). That would be cars like the Acura Integra, Cadillac Coupe De Ville, Mazda 929, Chrysler New Yorker, Buick Electra 225 Convertible, Audi 80, etc.
I'd like to dig deeper with a fuller qualitative analysis when I have the time.

Have we reached the revised Double Play format (1-9 Quick Draw)? Let me know when they have; I'm asleep when it airs in L.A.

Have we reached the revised Double Play format (1-9 Quick Draw)? Let me know when they have; I'm asleep when it airs in L.A. Not quite, that started in #1291 and the first 1977-taped episode. The episode codes worked the same way the Color What's My Line and Color To Tell The Truth had, the first 3 digits represent the week no. and the last digit represents the episode no. of the week. Of course, the Jack Narz birthday puzzle was somehow aired around December 1976 in selected markets.

Just found out from Jason Cranmer that the revised Double Play format started today. It was the second taped episode, 1292 was the number(they skipped 1291, the first taped episode). They started using TPIR cues for prize descriptions after the Double Play rounds, as per a post on Game SHow FOrum, Jay Stewart and Jack Clark also sub-announced on the 1977-78 season.
