Contestant dodges a zonk (a zonk pirate ship), but there was a treasure chest on the ship and it held a trip to New Orleans plus $5,000 in cash. This might be worse than those big deals that start off with a washer and dryer or a pair of surfboards, only to find out that $20,000+ in cash is offered in the same deal. I really can't stand it when the show does this. It seems so trollish and I hate that.

It isn't uncommon that a Zonk will have another prize hidden inside it: for instance, a set of trash cans with one containing a new fur coat, or a pile of 500 bananas with five $100 bills sticking out. The difference is that most of these surprises generally weren't worth very much (I think the highest I've seen was around $1,500), whereas "There's actually a $7,000 or so prize package!" is akin to showing a convertible and then dropping a wrecking ball onto it.
Basically, I agree with Mandoli.

Monty did that a lot. I can remember a paint set totaling about $79 that had a key to a car in it every time. I saw it 5 or 6 times. Each time they had the paint set they traded it for an unknown.

Yeah, but did they just randomly throw $20K with a low-range Big Deal prize and call it so? They showed a preview of a deal. As far as I'm concerned, that's about as tame and non-cringe inducing as a final round can get. TPTB with CBS can take notes from Monty's version and do the "two trader" final round. If that ever happens: - It would prevent CBS from letting their ego grow and/or their laziness to show.
- CBS can pretty much stop laughing in everyone's face - viewers and audience members. All of 'em.

Unless there's a couple playing for a prize, it's all women tomorrow. I'd be damn surprised if a game show ever recognized a guy who survived. Because, you know, men can get it as well.

Per CBS' airdate listings, this was legitly done as a tribute to Monty (as opposed to a standard episode with clips edited in) - #9x151, taped September 30. I really, really hope some of these involve pricing stuff, then, given that those were "trademark games". (Unless they mean "games to which we own the trademark".) Heck, this would be a good opportunity to take Now Serving and Go For A Spin and permanently bring back Door #4 in Monty's honor. Hopefully they avoided having the Super Deal involved, though, since Monty wasn't a fan of it (it had been forced on him by ABC).

It would have been nice to see this one episode of LMAD, even though I am not a fan of the CBS version. Unfortunately, as with every other day, my Government job takes over. But I am wondering if anybody would be willing to post today's LMAD on YT or wherever? I cannot view the show on CBS's website since it is blocked in Canada.
