I saw a contestant from America's Got Talent on today's episode of Millionaire and he was dressed as a dragon and he was so funny. Was this contestant from Millionaire from last year's America's Got Talent? He was so fun interacting with Chris Harrison Kelsey oh piff. You might have heard of his older brother. Steve

The last show will either air on May 24th or 31st. Today's episode is #165 for the season, I forget if they do 170 or 175 episodes a season. The show's 20th anniversary on ABC primetime is on August 16th. The syndicated Millionaire is the fourth longest running game show in syndication history at 17 years, behind WOF, J!, and the current run of Feud. On network TV, only the 1972-present of TPIR and the CBS primetime run of What's My Line(17.5 years) have lasted longer. Daytime WOF has 16 years and 8 months on NBC and CBS, not couting the two weeks in between the move from NBC to CBS in SUmmer 1989.

Why did it get cancelled?

Lower ratings in recent years, and a lot of ABC stations that were carrying Millionaire committing to a new talk show hosted by Tamron Hall. Eugene Byon said on Twitter that his show will be the third to the last show of the season and will air(Second Chance week) on May 29th, so the last first-run episode is May 31st.

I've had a hard time keeping a consistent interest in the show since Meredith left, but I'm still sad to see the show is ending on such a weak note; especially considering that the show turns 20 this summer.

There won't be a goodbye, as the shows for this season taped last SUmmer.

That makes it even worse. Honestly, the future of the show looked grim even as the season was being taped. They should have done something.

That makes it even worse. Honestly, the future of the show looked grim even as the season was being taped. They should have done something. It sounds like a case of "they didn't know the end was coming" when the season was finished recording. I am sure there have been a number of syndicated game shows that never had anything special on their finales.
Still, 17 years is an impressive run, but I never cared for the show after ABC cancelled their version in 2002 and aired the 10th anniversary edition in 2009.

Press Your LUck didn't know it was the actual last show when it was taped(there may some episodes taped but never aired), ditto for MG79, which saw some unaired by CBS episodes aired on GSN in Summer 2001. Even $25K Pyramid's second cancellation by CBS on 7/1/1988 saw Dick's goodbye added in post, taped on the set of the $100K Pyramid, which was taping its last shows in June 1988. As far as syndicated shows go, the last two runs of Hollywood Squares(Davidson and Bergeron) did a goodbye, although it was a little more subtle on Bergeron's version. $100K Pyramid in 1988's hint it would be the last show was Henry POlic's going into commercial comment about the WC category "Things you Finish" was "Bob Stewart's way of saying goodbye". Joker and Tic in 1986 taped their last shows in March, the cancellation notice appeared in a Gary Deeb column sometime in February, so it was known when the shows were taped that they would be the last shows, but no real mention of the last show was made by either host.

Press Your LUck didn't know it was the actual last show when it was taped(there may some episodes taped but never aired) Former associate director Rick Stern said the last episode was the end of the season for them. So, doubtful they would have continued taping episodes afterwards that ended up being shelved.

There was no real goodbye on the last PYL aired.

Rick Stern said they never had a chance, though I think he said if they'd known the end was coming, they'd have put together and even longer montage of big wins and Whammy hits than usual.

Randy West said on Facebook that there might be a producer from the CBS era of PYL working on post-production for the new version. He didn't say who it would be.

I remember back in third grade i used to play WWTBAM with my classmates, asking them a series of trivia questions i made up on a piece of paper. Honestly, i was never all that big a fan of Millionaire, especially its modern daily syndication run. I liked its primetime run a LOT better. In fact, a few years ago, at such a time, Greed fans like myself blamed WWTBAM for its July 2000 cancellation, i disliked Millionaire and the fact that it was still running long into the 2010s, to the point where i wished ABC would cancel the show already. Welp, looks like I got my wish but i'm still not to happy about it now that i have. Honestly, i'm sad to Millionaire go. Granted, it did get annoying since the show kept changing hosts every year/season or so. I liked it a lot better when Regis Philbin hosted the primetime run, and Meredith Vieira hosted the syndicated run. I remember at one point, ABC was airing the syndicated run for one year at, like, 1 am only and never showed it in the afternoon for that year. But it did air in the afternoon the following year, which annoyed me because i wanted it off! The newer seasons of the syndication run has the host and contestant standing up. But the older seasons and the primetime run had the Meridith, Regis, and the contestant playing sitting down. I like the sit-down set a lot better. Even though i never cared for the format in newer seasons, I LOVE the music for the last four questions in these last seasons of syndication. $100k - youtu.be/YW-wPzYJ5nY$250k - youtu.be/CFt9pRpOCrM$500k - youtu.be/Nnz498sG2u8$1 mill - youtu.be/42OTiiLoVJwAlso, this week is Second Chances Week on Millionaire, I guess to give previous losers one more chance to win big on the show in its last-ever week on the air. It would be awesome if someone could at least get to the $100k so i can hear that awesome music for the last time on television but i doubt it. The music for the last four questions sounds a lot better than in the primetime run and that is the ONLY thing I like better about the syndication version than the primetime version. Now I'm envisioning having the set rebuilt and people playing WWTBAM just for fun without money being actually awarded for winnings but filming each game and posting it on YouTube. That'd be fun. Sorry to make this a lengthy post but in a way, i can see why WWTBAM is going off -- the annoying host change and the fact that no one is ever making it to the $1 million level, much less winning it! That is unless someone makes it up there on tomorrow's series finale but i doubt it. The last-ever top prize winner was a guy named Sam in 2009 if i'm unmistaken? Still, i really do feel sad that all this time i wanted ABC to cancel Millionaire like Fox cancelled its so-called rip-off Greed, and now I'm getting my wish. Moral of the story: be careful what you wish for.
