It will be interesting to see if the Final Jeopardy wagering strategy will be different for this tourney. I also like how they show the home audience where the daily doubles are during the masters.

$500,000 for winner? Sounds cheap after numerous million dollar tournaments, especially after playing so many games.
Also, not sure how the semi finals and finals work, but I expected every combo of players To be played in 20 games. Then an 11th show could have had the top 3 compete.

I'm a little confused by the structure of this tourney, but it has been a lot of fun so far to watch all six play each night.

me too why have a semi finals unless that is a 2 day total affair due to having a tie score with the point system (3 for 1st, 1 for 2nd)

Mattea Roach's father Philip died on 5/2, as per a post on Jboard. This may explain why the finals of the current Masters tournament haven't taped as of today 5/12. The memorial services were today in Nova Scotia.

That could very well mean Mattea's in the finals.

Ben Chan, who won his third game on Friday, isn't scheduled to be on today's show due to illness. As per Jboard, he will return on 5/15 SPOILERS on Ben's game back today: He defeated Hannah, the current returning champion, convincingly.

I don't know how to designate text as a spoiler. Masters tourney is over, but I'd mark the first graph below with a spoiler warning if I could. The masters tourney was a lot of fun to watch. James dominated the opening 7 nights and was far superior in the two nights of semifinals, despite struggling against Mattea. Just as his 32-game streak ended, his near loss in the second game of the final proved that he rarely backs away from a big bet on daily doubles, but if he's up against tough competition and can't get those DDs, he's as vulnerable as everyone else. I was really surprised how much Mattea built up her score in game 2. No disrespect to Mattea if she had won, but it would have been an upset victory, and she's 100X smarter than I was on my best day, but she's still a rung below James when it comes to playing Jeopardy. But luck is very much part of the game, no matter how smart you are. Just as a 3-10 football team may defeat an 11-2 team once in a great while, the stars nearly aligned for Mattea in the championship. Had the Final J question been one they all knew, she wins. Instead she loses. Wild!
I'm confused. It's unclear to me whether or not James is to be invited back for a new round of masters, which is all but assured in 2024. I initially thought that you get retired from the tourney if you win it, but today I'm not so sure .

Today's episode surely set Jeopardy back. A combined *coryat score of $11,800. Highest DD wager is $1,000 and entering final the scores were $10,000 $100 and $-600"

We have a 5 day champ, and arguably one of the worst totals with $49,298

Jeopardy tapes their episodes well in advance. For example, the following clue was correct as of the tape date in May 2023, but tell that to the people who think the writers are lazy for coming up with the clue well after it's "incorrect". SPOILERS AHEAD!
