So John Radke was invited back due to a perceived slight (a chance he probably didn't deserve) on episode 843 , and managed to lose two games on episodes 918 & 919 by making the same rare mistake twice. I don't think he ever smiled on episode 919, and was taken off the stage with zero comment. I honestly felt bad for him. I just queued up episode 1008, and the challenger is our old friend John Radke! So now he has been brought back twice! I am looking forward to watching his play, and I will be back to comment just once to summarize his latest highlights.

Ok, here we are. This is absolutely, positively the very very last post about CC contestant John Radke. Here are comments on his last appearance.
- On 1008, he lost the first game, and won the second. The first game was a bit of a heart-breaker, as had accumulated a valuable prize list that included a Disney Bahamas Cruise, and the featured prize of a Mini Cruising Boat. He played a solid game with no errors, but lost when he failed to make a match in a low probability scenario (only 20% chance of a match). In the second game, he made one error (selecting the featured prize door when trying to match another prize), but it did not hurt him, as he still won the game.
Regarding his error that brought him back this time (giving the literal symbols instead of the puzzle solution), he avoided that when solving the puzzle in the game he won.
John did mention his two prior appearances when Alex asked him about his wife. John said that his current wife was his girlfriend during his first appearance, and his fiance during his second.
-On 1009, John won the first game and a car. There was no issue in his game one win, but there was an issue with the timing of his last selection in the car round. He called out "5-12" quickly and right on the buzzer, and Alex immediately ruled against him, stating the both numbers had to be called before the clock went to double zero. In my review, I thought that he said "5" in time, but the "12" came on the buzzer, and definitely after the clock went to double zero. Alex was overruled from off-stage, and John was awarded the car. Pure speculation, but I believe the producers just gave him the benefit of the doubt (and the car) this time in order to avoid the possibility of bringing back John again.
- John's on-screen prize winning totals omitted the $1,402 he won in his first appearance. (He lost two games in his second appearance.) In fact, the dollar value of the prizes from his two wins during his third appearance briefly flashed on-screen after Alex's initial ruling (but were later updated to include the car).
- Finally, John has set the all-time record by appearing in six different episodes of Classic Concentration (843, 844, 918, 919, 1008 & 1009), breaking the record of 5, previously shared by 14 other contestants.

Cindy Morgan from episodes #417-#421 of Press Your Luck is on now. I thought she looked familiar! #MayteeXCindy Anyways, all four of today's episodes are up now. It's just everything coming full circle, we got two contestants who are back due to errors made by the producers, and the husband of a former contestant. John Radke (from episodes 843-844 and 918-919) finally got his brand new car, a Daihatsu Charade (although I'm wondering - did the clock really go to zero before he called out his last selection?). And as I predicted previously, Bridgette from episode 885 is back! Though she has yet to win a car; she came really close today, not sure if tomorrow she can do it... As for the husband of the former contestant, that's the other John (the one with the glasses who succeeded his namesake in episode 1009 Game 2) who identified himself as the husband of Melissa from episodes 996-997. Apologies for not crediting your prior recognition of John Radke's return in my previous posts.
One funny thing about Bridgette's return is that not only did Alex not mention she was a returning contestant, he also asked her the same exact questions as he did on 885 about the ethnic origin of her last name! It was clear he did not remember having met her before, or their prior conversation. (To be clear, I am not faulting him for not recalling. By my count, he had met over 150 new Concentration contestants since she first appeared.)

Well, I'm not 100% certain as I was not one of the producers. But I am sure, given that they were operating the clock, from wherever they were sitting, the producers could definitely see the countdown in, as Alex put it, "milliseconds" - I'm speculating probably a stopwatch of some sort that counts down in milliseconds. Also, there would be allowance for maybe a millisecond or two of latency between their end and the digital "clock" that we (the viewers) see on our screens. Therefore ultimately, whatever the producers see on their end, is the apex, the final timing, and if what they saw was that John called out the number "12" just a millisecond or two before absolute zero, then they have every right to consider that a win. And being the producers, they naturally have the power to overrule all the lesser mortals, including Alex. Compare this to Joanne's loss in the car round of 879 Game 2, where she called out both numbers right ON the clock hitting zero. Of course that's a horse of a different color. Even if the producers had ruled that John had lost that car round, given his relentless style of play (he showed no sign of tiredness in spite of the fact that he had come back already quite a few times), he would most likely have handed Shelley an X in Game 2 and then gone on to win a car nevertheless. In any case, he had also won pretty nice prize hauls in these two games, including a holiday (which he really wanted to win, but had missed out on on his first ever appearance in episode 843).

It was clear he did not remember having met her before, or their prior conversation. (To be clear, I am not faulting him for not recalling. By my count, he had met over 150 new Concentration contestants since she first appeared.) Yes, Alex did not recognize her at all - but let's cut him some slack, we'll have similar problems too when we get older. #RespectYourElders Bridgette was back probably because of the error on Alex's part on her first appearance. (I'm sure Marjorie and the producer team must have had a long "chat" with him about it prior to this; but either way Alex didn't seem to recognize her.) And it paid off because she won a car - the car she wanted. And a pretty hefty one at that I must say - it was the Honda Civic. After Bridgette retired, the next few contestants all didn't seem to be playing very well. Dena, David, Stephanie, Joe, and even the current reigning champion Aimee - they all were playing as if they had just woken up and rushed down to the studio or something. Apart from Dena's and Joe's quick solves in both Game 2's of episode 1012 and episode 1015 respectively, the rest of the rebus puzzles proved to require a lot of help from Alex. The bonus games also seemed to have strikeouts on a much more consistent basis. My prediction for Aimee, as the current reigning champion, is that she may not last another episode tops without a few matches and quick solves. In her first appearance on episode 1016 Game 2, she wasn't that good at making the matches in the main game, and only got to solve the puzzle after the time's-up buzzer rang and Alex began revealing the puzzle square by square. And there was a strikeout in her car round. She'll need to start being faster and more vigilant if she is to win a car.

Here are the songs that Concentration used during its run so far and they're all instrumental: Janet Jackson - Miss You Much Ray Parker Jr. - Ghostbusters, through Halloween day, that is. Monster Mash, for one of the Trick or Treat weeks. That's Amore Bananarama - Venus, this should've been used as the opening rebus intro and end credits theme, pretty sure it was used as a featured prize music. Miami Vice theme.
That Bananarama - Venus instrumental theme was purely used on the daytime TPIR, perhaps while Frank Wayne was alive and was the showrunner there and when Rod Roddy was just getting started in appearing in the Showcase sketches. What splinkynip wants to know, were there any other themes Concentration was using?

OK. So I've just checked on the Mark Goodson Wiki and I was pleasantly surprised to see that there's been some updates on "Possible Outcomes" of episodes 1040-1041: markgoodson.fandom.com/wiki/Classic_Concentration/Episode_Guide/Spring_1991 NOTE: I still do NOT have any information as to when BUZZR are going to release those episodes, if at all. The only other episodes post-1016 and pre-1084 I have with me at the moment are 1036, 1037, 1043, 1044, 1045, and 1047. I am more interested as to when 1034-1035, 1046, and 1048-1069 are going to be released.

For anyone following Narz Concentration, Buzzr abruptly took it off the schedule after showing #1372. Will be intersting to see how much further there was after that for that batch.

And up till now there's still no news - at least as far as the Buzzr Schedule Updates Thread is concerned - of the next airing of episodes 1017 and 1023-1074. It's already October 2024, it's almost Halloween, then there'll be Thanksgiving and then Xmas, so my guess is that BUZZR staff are gonna be taking quite a long period of leave until after the New Year.

Just found out that the official Classic Concentration episode guide on the Mark Goodson wiki now requires one to "sign in to edit". Not sure why this is so...
Anyways as of this time, it seems like there is still no news of any new Classic Concentration episode airings. Given the two big holidays (Thanksgiving and Xmas) are just round the corner, I think we shouldn't raise our hopes high for them to be aired at this time at all. In fact, given that CC is only up to episode 252 as of November 22nd 2024, if I calculate the rate correctly (4 episodes a day, 5 days a week), we should not expect episode 1017 to arrive until just over a year later, i.e. January-February 2026.
